Just for fun... a League is 3 miles*, and 20,000 Leagues Beneath The Sea refers to the distance traveled in the book, not the depth (which would be about 6X the diameter of the Earth).

*The mile unit varied from society to society.

Did some rough calculations from last years results: 256,479.82 total miles biked! This results in a combined gas savings of $41,926.06. But even cooler is fact that we saved 198,822.70 Lbs of carbon! Naturally, these calculations are using averages from the USDOT for 2012 stating that the average price of fuel in 2012 was $3.60/gallon and the average mpg of american motorists was 22mpg.

So are we allowed to use our running miles as well if it is for commuting? I doubt it, but I only ask because today I will be running home 12.5-13.1 miles from work instead of cycling since I am training for the LA marathon. It is technically still commuting without a motor vehicle right? :p
