Best Fixed Gear for commuting under $500?

Ok, so I want to get a fixed gear bike for my short (2 mile) commute to school. So far I have narrowed it down to these bikes.

Dawes SST
Windsor the Hour
Mercier kilo tt
Scattante Americano III (I know it's not fixed gear, would convert).

So far, I'm leaning towards the americano, as I like it's aesthetics. Seeing as I don't have an incredibly long ride, I don't necessarily want the lightest, most track/race oriented bike. I just need to know if these are all good quality bikes.

(Also, I don't know what is with this forum and the kilo tt, but it seems like you guys have some sort of love affair with it)

edit: I just realized the title is misspelled, Oh No!

Another option in case you want to have a fatter tire.

Welcome to the Forums.

I noticed you also asked this in SS/FG, but I removed that one due to cross posting is frowned upon and it had zero responses.

Btw, I fixed the thread title for you. Whenever you need the title fixed, just report the OP by clicking on the triangle outside the lower left corner of the text box and leave a note as to how you'd like it modified. Same goes for moving a thread in case you put it in the wrong forum. :)

Any of those you posted would be fine. A friend of mine has one of the Bikesdirect Single speeds (not fixed) and he loves it. I gave it a once over, checked spoke tension, and tuned it up for him and was impressed with the value for money.

Another option is Masi: http://www.masibikes.com/bikes/fixed...-uno-drop-2013

Republic starts to veer into hipster territory, but some like that look, and the bikes are configurable to your liking: http://www.republicbike.com/?gclid=C...FYw-Mgodxy8AHw

So long as you don't plan on using panniers, any of them should be fine.

The BD singlespeed cross bike and a few of the other BD SS/FG's have rack mounts :thumb:

If you can find a deal on a Kona Paddy Wagon that would be my first recommendation.
Kilo WT would be second.
Fantom Cross Uno after that.
