Best QUIET wet weather performance is still XTR parallel push V-brakes. But they were discontinued because of all the percieved hype about disc brakes. :innocent:

Having both v and disc brakes I agree. Even cheap vs with coolstops are almost as good as discs and are effective yet quiet in the rain. Not as good as discs, but pretty close. Of course if your wheel gets out of true and you need to ride home discs win... been there done that.

I've got BB5s on my paratrooper, they only squeal (and really not that much) if I really apply them hard (and suddenly) when they're wet. If I'm gonna slow down I usually just apply em a little to get most of the water off and then use as I normally would, just to avoid some squeaking. I'm pretty happy running only disc brakes (this is one of the older ones that had front disc only originally) and would continue to use them in the future.

You mean two bolts on the caliper mount? For the initial setup,you adjust the caliper so the disc is dead center on calipers with dual pad adjustment,or biased closer to the outer pad if only the inner pad adjusts. After the caliper is set,you shouldn't have to play with the mount unless it loosens for some reason. All your adjustments should be with the pad adjusters and cable.
