Not what I was looking for. But what do you think?

So, my wife was helping at a bassett rescue garage sale and saw a Bike E RX recumbent. They offered it to her for $100 us. I don't know a lot about 'bents. It had SRAM 7 shifters and rd. Fd was Deore lx. It rides nicely and shifts smoothly. I couldnt pass it up. I'm going to try it as another commuter. Did I get hosed or a steal?

I posted here because the recumbent forum didn't look that frequented and I plan to use it as a commuter. But if I should have posted there please move this tread.

For the price, it looks like a nice bike to add to your collection. It is certainly unique.

Congratulations! :D Looks like a nice and comfortable bike. Don't know much about a Bike E, but on http://www.bentrideronline.com/messageboard/index.php you'll be able to find information about this bike, or people with experience with this bike. I seem to recall reading that a lot of people like this particular bike, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, here's a pic of my commuter: a 28" wheels recumbent with disc brakes. Started commuting on it since April last year. It's been great so far :)

First, if you find a bike that rides well for $100, you've done well. But a recumbent bike for $100? You got a steal.

I'll second the recommendation for BROL (Bent Riders Online) and, oh yeah, welcome to the dark side. :D

You're on a slippery slope to getting an adult tricycle.

I just picked up the exact same bike last week for $150 and I thought i had gotten a very good price. LOL Yours is in alot better shape than mine, but I am looking forward to trying it out. If I don't like it I am sure it won't be hard to find another owner for it.

Riding home from work on my recumbent was always so relaxing. The head's up position lets you look around and take in the beauty. Enjoy.

The spouse has one of those and loves it. The company went out of business a while back, I believe, but the bikes are still going strong. You sit a lot higher than on some other recumbents, so you are more visible.

Sounds like a steal to me.

hell if you don't want it mail it to me i'll give it a good home

Feel free to post in the 'bent forum here on BF. You will get some feedback. BROL is a great resource, too.
Agree that $100 for a functional 'bent is a steal. Ride it enough and recumbent n+1 will kick in.

I was thinking the same thing when my wife told me about it. And that's what I told her. I can't wait to try it. Unfortunately, it has been extremely windy. 20 to 40 mph with 60mph gusts. So I'm waiting.

Yup, that usually go for $300 in my area.

And for your purchase, somewhere there is a rescued bassett that is loving you.
