When Mother Nature gives you lemons....

...get on a fat bike and ride to the lemonade factory.

It being April 11th this is not at all a welcome snow storm in these parts. But it was a fun commute and a nice workout. Full disclosure: 30 seconds after I snapped this pic the snow plow came down the path. I was OK with that too.

I had my browser window shrunk and I didn't see the whole title at first. I thought sure it was going to say "When mother nature gives you the finger".

Yeah, I joyfully started riding my road bike last week and was down to one studded tire on my winter bike before that. So this morning I was faced with the decision of whether or not to put the other stud on for this damn snowstorm. I decided it wasn't worth it for 1 or maybe 2 days at the most. I also figured being down 1 stud it would be best just to ride to the train station and take the train most of the way.

That however, did not work out as the trains weren't running due to ice on the cables. So I rode the whole way anyway and, yes I was smiling. Not because I was on fat bike but because next week I'll be riding a bike on a beach in Belize instead of on snow in Minneapolis.

When mother nature gives you the finger, give it right back.

ps. I actually love snow... in November, December, January, and February.

Don't know if you were just being funny or really don't know, but these bikes have big cut-outs in the rim (to reduce weight) and what looks like snow between the spokes is really the rim strip (yes, you can get them in different colors).

Just FYI (unless you were being funny!).

True and I went with the white rim strips to match my skin tone at this point in our endless winter.

Good on ya! I drove today for the fourth time this year. Like tjspiel I took my studs off a couple weeks ago, and didn't think I could go without them. It felt like the right decision given how awful the morning drive was!
