cyclocross bike for commuting

After checking out the LBS offerings, I think I have it down to two choices. Either the Trek Crossrip Elite, or Kona Jake. Both fit well and were comfortable to ride and are priced the same. The Kona has Tiagra drive train and tektro lyra brakes while the Elite has Sora with BB5 brakes. Leaning towards the Kona but I think I would be happy with either. Any reason to go with a particular bike?

Which do you like the look of better? If you think you'd be equally happy with either, then I'd make the decision based on appearance. :p

BTW I just picked up a bike with the new Sora shifters, and they work the exact same as the Tiagra on my other bike. They perhaps "feel" a bit cheaper but the functionality and ease of shifting are identical.

I think Trek invested more in the frame and fork, and compensated by a notch down on components..
to keep the target price point.

chain shovers do what is needed, you can upgrade them if you wish..

maybe even at point of sale, then you might get a trade in, while you pay the difference..
