Advice: Which used bike?
Hello and thank you for reading,
I am looking to purchase a used mountain bike to ride around with my gf and myself.
After doing some research and finding I need about a 20" frame, as I am 6'. I hit craigslist. I wanted to spend less than $100. I found these bikes. Can anyone give me their opinion on some pro's/con's to my choices?
- Trek Antelope 850, 20.5" Frame, 3 Speed Shifter needs repair.
- Motiv Back Country HP, frame unknown, someone 6'1" rides it
- Giant ATX 760, 18" Frame
I dont know any other specifics about each bike. All 3 are $60 - $80.
Thank you for your time!

First, locate some nearby bicycle co-op, somewhere. Next, find a chromoly steel frame that fits you. If it comes in the form of an entire bike, then kudos to you. Become a member of the co-op, and use the donated parts possessed by the co-op to build your 'new' bike. After the frame, comes the fork, then the wheels (you've got to have really strong wheels). Find the best tires that you can, and mount them, knowing all along that, as soon as you're able to find a better tire, you're going to replace the worst one that was previously mounted. Make certain that you locate decent matching drive train components, before you begin to install them. Spend as much time at the co-op, that you can, until your bike has been completed.
* You just might be lucky enough to find a really good frame at the co-op too!
