Did we forget?

http://tigrlock.com/product/

This lock was still a prototype when someone from bikeforums posted about it. It's now available for purchase. It looks like a great investment..

Most thieves that are willing to spend 60 seconds cutting a lock are just as willing to spend 90 to 120 seconds doing so.

The "nobody's ever stolen a bike with one of these on" claim that I've heard is currently a statistical joke and won't mean anything until there have been a few million of these in use, and many in use in major crime areas, for a few years.

I like that. Easy to transport, light and it looks like it would be as "tough" as most U-locks. It is a little pricey though.

googled youtube tigr and watched some of the vids. The guy attacking the tigr with a bolt cutter seemed to be deliberately making it harder. At least it looked that way to me.

It does look like a good lock. Like the flexy concept. But the price is more than I'm willing to pay. There were more comments here:

I'm curious to see how it does against an angle grinder.

Video made by the designer of the Tigr Lock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uw5ALXQous

Hacksaw goes through the Ti stock in 2.5 minutes, but that was in a bench vise. Would probably take much longer while locked up on a bike. The lock seems almost impervious to bolt cutter attacks. Angle grinder takes 3x as long as on a U-lock, but still gets through in under a minute. There's not much you can do to protect against an angle grinder. A chain (preferably square cross-section links) might actually deter an angle grinder better due to lack of support for the piece being cut.

If you look at the pics on the link that locolobo posted. The way it attaches to the bike, its set up as if in a vise. And someone posted in the comments that he hacked it in 20 seconds. My question about the angle grinder test is, did he include, in the time, his little break? You can't tell how fast it really was on any of the test because they sped the recording up. To me, its not worth the $200.

$165/$200

Which comments are you referring to?

Men's Journal seemed not to be too keen on it.

Interesting design but, I'll stick to my u-lock which is battle tested.

I love the overall idea. Personally I get tired of lugging my lock around on days that I need it and the way that one integrates and connects to the frame is really cool. That said, in my situation, the price tag overshadows the benefit for me.

"only lock to fall victim to the bolt cutters" say what? I'd really, REALLY love to see a video of how they did that. And how their other locks were not defeated by bolt cutters.

I thought about it when they had the kickstarter and were cheaper, but I didn't go for it and now that's just too rich for my blood. Maybe one day after I win the lotto.

So would I, I can't imagine they would lie, but you never know. That said looking at the other reviews on locks by the same writer seem pretty in line with what other say.
