Pictures of your commute surrounding

There may have been such threads but I haven't found one. After Buzzatronic posted his beautiful commute path, I'm really interested in others'. I'd like to see the most representative pictures of your commuting surroundings and sceneries (like, "this is what I see every time I commute").

I'm sorry I don't have a bike camera yet so have nothing to offer first (it's Manhattan so everyone knows how hectic and boring (by my standard) it is anyway).

(Warning: I may want to move to your area if your commute is super lovely, like the one shown by Buzzatronic :commute:)

P.S. Please do tell us where your commute is located, too (otherwise how do I know where I want to move to? :D).

here's a screen capture from google streetview of one of my favorite views on my daily commute. heading south on the lakefront path into downtown with the immensity of lake michigan on one side, highrises lining LSD on the other, and big john majestically standing tall and proud down at the foot of oak street beach.

There have been threads like this before (which I pulled these pics from) but it's still nice to see what sorts of commute people have. I live in a residential part of the city and work downtown so the scenery varies which I like:

The building with the puffy white collapsable roof on the left is where the Vikings currently play. It will be replaced by a monstrous stadium in a couple years which I'm reserving judgement on until it's done. That's probably the only thing on my commute that would be recognizable from somebody outside the area. We live in flyover land.

Depending on which way I take home I do sometimes ride underneath the Twins stadium.

I'd never make it to work! I'd just stop there, lie down and stare all day.

From Google Streetview as well:

^^^ I love that path along the Columbia river. I used to ride/walk/run/rollerblade on it when I lived in PDX.

My commute takes me along the southern coast of Athens; it's heavily populated, but I do get a chance to view the Saronic gulf.

A rather windy day a few months ago

I used to live in one of those building directly ahead, but that was a long time ago!

I doubt if any place in that part of the world is not worth being photographed. :thumb:

Thank you all for the quick replies with the great scenery.

My commute is 27.4 kms one way and I go along the Yamaska river for at least 22-23 kms. Seeing this every morning I forgot how lucky I am to have a nice spot to ride

those were taken in the early spring

Those were taken this winter.

My current commute is pretty nice, I ride to work on a back route that avoids a busy arterial road, I cut through a quiet suburban area instead:

And the backdrop for rides here is always the mountains - Pikes Peak and the rest of the front range to the west:

I admire that many of you seem to be riding on empty road, with only your bike and Nature! It may not even feel like you are going to work. ;) NYC commute sucks (still way better than mass transit).

After seeing this thread, I realized how depressing my commute is :) Still beats taking public transit. Behold the glorious concrete jungle.

Mostly through modern Industrial parks and suburbs. http://goo.gl/maps/Q1QIe

Now that the days are longer my after work commute get longer and more varied.

These are near my work, and are the largest wooden buildings in the U.S. They were built in the 1920's to house the U.S. Navy's rigid airships. http://goo.gl/maps/onRux. I remember in my youth how this area was totally surrounded with citrus groves.

Did a recent 50 mile detour through the Orange County back country http://goo.gl/maps/VAxVY

I ride to a commuter train station. My usual, most direct trip is five miles. I sometimes extend that. Ten miles and I can race to meet my usual train here. http://goo.gl/maps/8GngH. If I catch the later train, I can catch it here (19 mi), http://goo.gl/maps/YSFfI or here (24 mi), http://goo.gl/maps/Gy41H or here (30 mi, but have to leave ten minutes early) http://goo.gl/maps/9A5eY

Here are more pics from my commute. This is on the east side of Lake Washington, across from Seattle.

The big downhill near my office. You can break 40mph here pretty easily.

I took this thursday or friday, forecast said 0% chance of rain.

This is an old highway that is blocked off from civilization, occasionally I see other bike tracks, but have only met one other person on the road, an old guy walking his dog who told me about the rattlesnake he killed there the day before (I'm surprised I haven't seen one yet). This makes up half my commute, the other half is residential areas and a bike trail.

Central WA state, by the way, where it almost never rains, but I have fenders anyway, cause when it does, you don't get a warning. :)

wow some of these are so sweet

Looks familiar; yet transposed/overgrown a bit:
