Well Ventilated Helmet

I know this has been discussed. Sorry. I couldn't find the thread.

Looking for a few recs on a very well ventilated helmet.

The last few days I've had to ditch my helmet (giro surface) because it's been just too hot. I figure no helmet is more safe than passing out on the bike.

Anyway, are there any brain buckets known for being exceptionally cool?

Helmets suck! I can't stand them.

I wear it for my wife and kids. They need me.

They sell them all based on number of vents, but mtb helmets typically have larger spacing between them, iirc. I like Specialized helmets because they are Snell certified not just CPSC. I don't think you'll find a big enough difference between a $50 helmet and a $200 helmet to justify it, but there may be a difference between the cheapest and spending a little more.

ventilation engineering while maintaining safety level of helmet is reflected by the Price..

the $100+ helmets try, the $40 one doesn't. so much..

Slightly off topic but I have heard that a wicking beanie under a helmet, although it doesn't change ventilation, apparently improves head cooling. I tried it this week and last during the hot spells and I certainly didn't feel overheated plus, it virtually eliminated sweat dripping down my forehead onto my glasses or stinging my eyes (until I took the beanie off, then Niagara!).

I use the Giro Feature for commuting in addition to a Halo headband in the heat

When I bought a new Specialized SWorks helmet, it was expensive, but it was the first helmet I've ever worn where I forget that I'm wearing it. It was a *huge* improvement in airflow, comfort, and not trapping heat both when riding and when not riding.

The latest Specialized SWorks helmet is very different from the one I have though, so I'm afraid I'm not 100% sure what the current equivalent is. You can definitely get a helmet that you don't really get additional heat with it on for the bike though.
