Low-cost Pumps?

Hi. Looking for a good floor pump and maybe a frame pump. No special bikes, just want something reliable, without any serious design flaws and as low a cost as possible. Are the cheapies on Performance/Nashbar websites fine, or should I spend a little more for longevity?

The ones Performance has on sale are good. If you don't abuse them they will last for years. For a pump to have with me when I'm far from anything, I want something reliable. Get a Topeal Road Morph.

Topeak Mt.Morph: lighter/shorter than the Road Morph and just as great.
This bike mounted pump converts to a floor pump (really!). One hundred pumps strokes gives me 100 lbs in a 700 x 23 tire. Almost a pleasure to get a flat!

The Road Morph is a nice pump, and it's only about $30. Well worth it if you ask me. The only downside is it's a little large.
The cheap mini pumps work ok for lower pressures, but they make it pretty hard to get up to the 80-100 psi range.

For a floor pump, just about anything should do.

I've had good luck with Zephal floor pumps. I've got a malamut, and have had no problems. It wasn't very expensive.

Stay away from the SKS Air Worx. They don't work. I bought one and returned it the next day. The kid at the LBS couldn't get it to work as well. Tried several different ones they had on the floor. Tried Presta and Schrader valves. None worked. Next time I went back to the shop I noticed they had pulled them off the floor.

Just avoid minipumps. You need a flexible nozzle so that the energy from your pumping strokes isn't transfered to the stem. I lost a few stems to a minipump, before I switched to the Topeak Mtn Morph, which is a very good pump.

Another vote for the topeak road morph for on the bike. Although others have said bad things about them on this forum, I have kept my fleet of 12 bikes aired up using a Joe Blow floor pump for 4 years with no problems at all. Don

a question for you guys with the road morph/Mt Morph pumps. I read that the Road morph comes with a gauge, is it accurate? Worth having? I ask because I have now seen the road morph at Supergo opn sale for $20 but without the gauge.

Worth getting?

I hate my mini pump

For a floor pump dont get one with a fat barrel unless you weigh over 250 lb. The skinny ones may need a few more stokes but are way easier to get to high pressures.

Serfas! Good product and good company!

Sort of. Mine gives different readings than my floor pump, but it's in the ballpark. I kind of like the gauge, but it's not a must-have feature.
If you can get a good deal on a Road Morph wi/ no gauge, I'd go for it.

My Serfas floor pump is good, I like it.

My Serfas mini-pump sucks, but then so has any mini pump I have tried.

I bought a cheap Schwinn portable tire pump at Target. It seems to work. I cannot afford to carry an exspensive pump around that would be lost or stolen. I just want somthing that I can carry in case I get a flat.

I like the Serfas FP-100 floorpump. I've had it for 3 years, and it has always worked well, in spite of neglect.
