For extra bonus points, I left indicators of the last time my son spent the day in my office :)

The crankset is a bit ugly, otherwise this bike is hot-ish.

There's a lot going on around the handlebars. With a good picture of what's there it might add to the bike's hotness. As just a vague jumble it kind of detracts.

Needs a better background -- too hard to see the bar setup. Probably hot.

Nope. I'm betting big panniers, big feet and a short chainstay bike. The old Randonee's were touring bikes in name only. They have chainstays around 17.3".

Ahh, those do look short.

Not. The red fenders make it look like a kid's toy, and a triple crank is never hot on a road style bike. Also, the bars are rotated too far down.

I disagree! I like the fenders, and as far as the triple goes, I'd say extra points there, as this is the commuting forum after all! ;)

Probably not for everyone but it has been working for me

If you mean the bash guard on the chain rings, I agree. I'm not sure how easy it is to remove though, or if I have the tools for it.

I used scissors

A lot of people seem to look down on "hybrids" but I think there are some pretty hot looking ones like this

Simpletommy 09-13-13 12:58 AM

So, how, where and when do we want to start the "Official Commuter version" of the Hot or Not set of rules?

Is that a sewer treatment plant? The composition of the shot hurts to look at.

OK, this is a gratuitous attempt to revive the Hot or Not thread and continue spamming pics of my new bike in the process.

Right now it's in CX racing configuration, but I chose this frame specifically because I'll be able to conscript it into commuting duty once race season is over.

Flip it.

If anyone could possibly find this bike hot, it's you folks...featuring a true hodge podge of parts...mostly Deore DX, but with some weird touches throughout. No idea what the fork is (beyond being steel). Specialized stem, Gary bars, cheap-o aluminum post, tektros - V-brakes.

So I've been unsuccessful in my attempts to get high bars accepted as the aesthetic ideal on the commuter forum?

I can overlook everything but the fork, and maybe even that in light of the Alfred E. Newman headbadge, which is definitely hot.

KonAaron Snake 10-01-13 02:05 PM

 Thanks - I was very pleased with how that came out. The headbadge is very appropriate given the decals and build.

I'd love to put some fork with a fancy, over wrought, crown on it...like a Rivendell...if I could get it at the right price, and if I knew the rake matched. I'd still add huffy transfers.

Andy_K 10-01-13 02:21 PM

It really needs a carbon fork. A carbon huffy fork would be hot.

KonAaron Snake 10-01-13 02:26 PM

Don't think I didn't consider it, but this bike really is a beater and does take abuse (like salty roads in winter). As funny as a CF fork would be, I don't think it would work.

noglider 10-01-13 02:29 PM

Aaron, it's hot because it's so perfectly functional for you.

KonAaron Snake 10-01-13 02:33 PM

It really is a terrific bike...not much it can't do with aplomb. It's a weird-o, but it suits my needs very well. The shifting can be a little wonky - in a perfect world I'd change over to a Suntour 7 spd rear hub/freewheel and derailleur - but the replacement costs would go up a lot as well. It's usually not TOO bad and can be tolerated.

Looks good to me, but it's look better with more gears.

This.
Still fairly hot. Dig the color.
