OP's bike ... not so much ... sorry t
that chic looks like Michael Jackson! |
Note that this photo does not include the kitty litter bucket pannier, which instantly pegs the "not" and "fred" meters at 11, if they go that far.

hey, ride it if you like it.
Update: Tactful to my face only. Apparently someone has openly questioned why anyone would buy a bike like that. |

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=333578This is my commute bike even though it doesn't look "commuter-ish" much. '98 GT Edge built up from frame and fork with assorted components from my parts bin plus ebay.
Works well for me! I was thinking about putting a seatpost rack on so I could ditch my back-pack but you guys gave the OP so much trouble about his seat-post rack . . . guess I'll keep using my back pack. Oh, and it's a carbon seatpost so seat post rack probably not a good idea regardless. Plus I need to find a better background! Rick / OCRR |

After all the abuse heaped on your rack people are too afraid. ;)
And just in case anybody thought the bike in the original post was just a sick joke, I do have a certain... history. Here's something I had put together a few years ago. The aero bars, low spoke count wheels and adjustable kickstand from Target are not something you often see together on one bike, - especially one used for commuting: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/f...f/IMG_4386.jpg |
Here's one from the archives...this bike is no longer among the living. Do your worst, people.

I think I still have a green and blue skin suit that would really set the colors in that bike off.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-9...o/raleigh3.jpg Not sure what is going on with the seat tube. There appears to be a rear reflector and something else... |

You lose a lot of points due to the seat post rack - so not! This thread seems like it could be fun, though the commuting section on BF is the least judgmental so I don't think we will see the 41-style comments.

FWIW, the ridiculous comments are one of my favorite things about the 41. I just have to tell myself they aren't serious. If this thread is going to be successful we need to be at least as harsh as the people on the 41. I expect we'll have different, sometimes opposite, standards (for instance, I'd definitely deduct points for a slammed stem), but the tone ought to be about the same...maybe without the people who get bent out of shape to hear that their bike isn't hot. |

See. We can do it. FWIW, the ridiculous comments are one of my favorite things about the 41. I just have to tell myself they aren't serious. At time my smarta$$ comments border on snide when they do call me out. I generally mean no harm but usually I'm pointing out something that irk's me.. to call it fair I'll post up all my rides right now. By this time next week I'll have added a couple mountain bikes.. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=333587http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=333588http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=333590 |
