OP's bike ... not so much ... sorry t

that chic looks like Michael Jackson!

Note that this photo does not include the kitty litter bucket pannier, which instantly pegs the "not" and "fred" meters at 11, if they go that far.

If nothing else I've discovered that a red bike with a single green wheel does get noticed. Today I was brave enough to park it my office rather than in the bike racks by the door. The few coworkers that have seen me with it so far have been tactful.

Update: Tactful to my face only. Apparently someone has openly questioned why anyone would buy a bike like that.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=333578This is my commute bike even though it doesn't look "commuter-ish" much. '98 GT Edge built up from frame and fork with assorted components from my parts bin plus ebay.

Works well for me! I was thinking about putting a seatpost rack on so I could ditch my back-pack but you guys gave the OP so much trouble about his seat-post rack . . . guess I'll keep using my back pack. Oh, and it's a carbon seatpost so seat post rack probably not a good idea regardless.

Plus I need to find a better background!

Tire labels not lined up with valve stem. Brooks saddle looks out of place on a CF bike, but docking marks for that in the commuting forum will get me lynched. Still, tire labels dude. Almost hot.

And just in case anybody thought the bike in the original post was just a sick joke, I do have a certain... history. Here's something I had put together a few years ago. The aero bars, low spoke count wheels and adjustable kickstand from Target are not something you often see together on one bike, - especially one used for commuting:

Yeah...this one is unrateable. And I hope you've painted over that wall, too. :)

Here's one from the archives...this bike is no longer among the living. Do your worst, people.

We did in fact paint over the wall but looking at that picture... well, I kind of miss it.

I think I still have a green and blue skin suit that would really set the colors in that bike off.

Let him bring it.

I'm happy not to expand the discussion of "hot or not" to myself in a skin suit. ;)

It appears to be a MTB->drop bar conversion and as such is almost "HOT" purely for the effort involved. However, it does suffer from the "craned neck" look due to the hi rise stem. Common for this type of conversion. Barcons are a good choice.

Not sure what is going on with the seat tube. There appears to be a rear reflector and something else...

Are you sure?

See. We can do it.

FWIW, the ridiculous comments are one of my favorite things about the 41. I just have to tell myself they aren't serious.

If this thread is going to be successful we need to be at least as harsh as the people on the 41. I expect we'll have different, sometimes opposite, standards (for instance, I'd definitely deduct points for a slammed stem), but the tone ought to be about the same...maybe without the people who get bent out of shape to hear that their bike isn't hot.

Whats the 41?

At time my smarta$$ comments border on snide when they do call me out. I generally mean no harm but usually I'm pointing out something that irk's me.. to call it fair I'll post up all my rides right now. By this time next week I'll have added a couple mountain bikes..
