Saved ~20min commuting today
 

I have been taking public transportation to my new work location. It usually takes 40min, 50 if I am unlucky and had to wait. Driving is completely out of the question since it would have taken wayy longer because of traffic.

Today is the second time I commuted by bike. First time I took 40min because I got lost..but today, to my pleasant surprise, it was only 25min! Somehow I managed to save time, money and get exercise all at at the same time. Wish I started earlier.

Minor complaint: Had to stay in easiest 3 gear most of the time. Too many start-go-stops and i have a downtube bike. Had to shift like I am driving a manual car..not cool. miss my old interruption free commute.

Welcome! The more you commute, the more you'll start thinking about upgrades, new bike(s) maybe...and through trial and error you'll find something that works really well for you. If you really get into it, you'll find yourself taking 40 minutes anyway because it's so darn fun, you'll find ways to extend your commute!

Yup...my transit commute is 45ish minutes under the best circumstances, but riding takes 30 minutes no matter what.

Practice your standing starts and you won't have to shift down so far at intersections. I make DT shifting work for me on commutes. :thumb:
