Air Horn?

Today I used something new against a "pursuit dog". As I was nearing home a dog decided it wanted to chase and possibly nibble . Awhile ago I bought one of those distress air horns in the sporting goods dept at W.M. to bring on my commutes . As the dog neared I just gave a short blast at it...that dog did quite a U-turn and I got to proceed on my merry way. I was just wondering if any one else has used one. I don't see where it would be harmful, but I know now it works. I'm not a good sprinter at my age anymore..ha.:roflmao2:

Nothing like having a pursuing dog make a U-turn!
On our tandem, my wife/stoker carries a very shrill/loud/cheap whistle on a lanyard around her neck for instant use.
Has discouraged dogs and even a very nosey coyote.

I thought about it some years ago, but being the cheap-ass that I am, I wanted a way to refill the canister with a pump; that requires the AirZound, or something like it. I haven't invested in that yet.

Of course, NOW, I almost never have dog issues; the last one just followed me to work, never got within 8 feet of me! (Now the one BEFORE that, I foiled by 'out-barking' it, much to my chagrin...sore throat....)

Air horns are good for detering a lot of things ;) I have a rear strobe kit that does police-speed and it also deters dogs around dusk/night. Just have to watch the cars...

What is police speed?
