Pashley roadster serial #
 

I recently bought off of Craigslist a Roadster Soverign. The guy I bought it from said he bought it new from a dealer in Arizona and had it shipped to him about 4 years ago. The bike is in like new condition. In examining it more closely I cant find a serial number anywhere, the only markings I find is stamped in the bottom bracket " HADEN ". The hub is marked XRD5 and in very small letters " HJC8 " Anyone have an idea when it was made? Could the serial # have been on a sticker that was removed?

IME serial numbers are never on stickers, but are normally embossed into the metal someplace. Disregard all components, because the serial number refers to the frame, not attached hardware.

Typical places for serial numbers include, top of the seat tube on or below the seat lug, bottom of the bottom bracket, and on a rear dropout.

A country of origin sticker should be there if the bike was imported commercially into the USA, but isn't legally required if the buyer bought it overseas and had the one unit shipped to him.

Anyway Pashley is still in business so you should contact them directly.

Haden Bros. was a supplier for Pashley, but I thought they stopped doing business in the early 00's. Have you tried emailing Pashley?

Ok I emailed Pashley and they sent me an owners manual free of charge from England (Thanks Pashley).
The manual says the serial # is on the security label affixed low down on the seat tube. And to quote this number if ordering spare parts.
The frame # is stamped into a plate on the left chainstay that forms the mount for the rear brake arm and this should be recorder for insurance purposes.
Well there is no sticker with a serial # anywhere on this bike, but there is a frame # stamped where they said it would be (chainstay plate.
I would think that would be the serial number as it is a permant part of the frame and a sticker can be removed or damaged. Any way I'm glad I found the frame number.

Anyway, the frame number on older Pashleys is often on the frame lug where the seat tube meets the top tube.
