20F, light snow, enough to be pretty but not enough to be a pain.

Nice ride this morning, 41°F and cloudy. Apparently we had some light rain move through overnight as the ground was all wet, which I did not expect. Wasn't raining during the commute, though. I was going to put my fenders on but didn't have time. Luckily it wasn't wet enough to throw a stripe up the back of my jacket. There's only a few small spots on the back. TWC said north winds at 6 MPH (I ride south in the morning) but I couldn't really feel any benefit from it. Made decent time coming in, though, which I'm going to go ahead and attribute to my new wheelset. :)

Dark, about 42 degrees F., but the rain had stopped. Unlike Patrick, I never take my fenders off. The crescent moon wasn't bright enough to light things up, but it looked cool up there in between the clouds.

Stayed late at work, didn't leave until it was dark out and the main exit gate to my house was closed. Not a lot of traffic in the area, all told, so I had a relaxing, extra long ride home.

I use the RaceBlades clip-on fenders, which can be kind of finicky to keep aligned. I prefer not to have them on if it's dry out.

So I left work and weather said there was about a 10 MPH headwind. Well it felt much worse than that, and indeed when I got close to home I checked and it was blowing 16 MPH in my face. Much tougher ride home than coming in this morning.

I had a few snowflakes on my commute as well, which was totally unexpected. Temps were in the mid-30s F, so it was nothing to worry about. The weather has been great this week compared to the rest of the winter so far, with the only issue being stiff headwinds in the afternoons. Still aiming for a 5-bagger, which would be my first of 2014. The weather on Friday will be challenging, however, with forecast calling for temps in the low 20s and very windy.

Would you still go riding on the weekend if you do go all 5 days? In 3 years I only once rode all 5 days in a week, and I don't go as far as you.

And what happens when a spinning car runs you over? I'd much rather have the steel cage around me. And your post came across as really obnoxious.

Yes, but I would probably take off Saturday and ride Sunday. I sometimes ride as much as 7-10 days in a row if the weather is nice and I have time. My legs start feeling it, however, unless I take it easy on some of the rides.

I saw a guy riding a mountain bike down a major local thoroughfare with NO REAR TIRE.

This was not today, but a few months ago. I just keep forgetting to post about it.

Yes, he was riding on the rim. I can't explain how it should work. The front wheel had a tire.

Warm commute today; 59 Deg.F when I left the house. Very sunny now and should be mid 70's on the ride home. Rain is predicted for the next several days, so that should be interesting . . .

Rainy, windy. Wet feet and discovered that when in the rain my tight tire clearance is negative tire clearance...

Stopped by a pitbull this morning. If I had some speed under me would have zoomed past him. But he was in front of me as I rounded a corner in the dark. Tried to talk to him, make friends but he wouldn't have any. Each time I tried to either walk past, around or back off he charged me, then backed off to about 10 ft when I stopped.

Eventually called the cops. When the officer arrived with a car and there were two of us the dynamics changed a little. After a few more minutes, with the dog still barking and growling, the officer asked if I could go back around the block. The dog didn't try anything as I backed off. The officer assured me she would be OK.

Have no idea how it turned out. Maybe she's better with dogs than me. I can usually make friends with dogs but sometimes, and especially when I'm on a bike, it's difficult.

I haven't encountered any pitbulls yet, but I'm wondering if the Airzound has any effect on them.

Glad you were able to get out of the situation. I wish people would take care of their dogs.

I'm glad you're ok. Dogs are so annoying and sometimes down right scary. I have a pitbull that lives about a mile from my house. I never know when it's going to be outside. It's always agressive towards me even if I'm on foot. I'm thinking about buying some bear spray. My dog spray doesn't shoot very far.

It was a bit cold something like 23* but no real wind, so it was enjoyable.

Leash law covers the whole state. Plenty of loose dogs. Most of them don't bother me. Even the ones that do I can usually get by without stopping. This morning tho, the angles and speed (and dog) were against me and I felt it better to stop. I haven't stopped for a dog, except in a friendly way, in years.

Mr Hairy Legs: I've wondered about the effect of an airzound too. May try that. If nothing else it will wake the neighbors at 5:30 AM.
