Really warm this morning, about 75F. I took it a bit slower in hopes to stay a bit cooler. Although I also added about 1.5 miles on a MUP. I saw a turtle on the MUP. He was going the opposite direction and didn't see it fit to wave back to me.

Donchya just hate rude salmon turtles?

Had a spoke bust on me tonight. I had a decent pace going and was reserving my energy for a straightaway that was coming up. Luckily I had my bus pass on me and was steps away from the nearest bus stop.

72F 22 C muggy air and wet streets...more of the same + rain all week.

esmith2039 06-09-14 04:54 AM

Against the wind but cool and it was my first day back after 3 days off so wasn't a problem. May rain on the way home.. oh well I'll dry!

essiemyra 06-09-14 05:16 AM

The commute in was a nice uneventful ride today, with mostly cloudy skies. I have no idea what the temp was as I was running late as I left the house and could not take that extra second to look.

Merrimac Weather Forecast and Conditions - weather.com
(sorry, just being a smart-a$$)

70F, humid and foggy here. I got a good long ride in over the weekend, about 65 miles. I haven't ridden that far in several years. Nor have I ridden with other riders. It is fun to be able to ride fast and far without major efforts.

jrickards 06-09-14 06:44 AM

It was a beautiful morning, about 12C/53F, slight breeze, clear, sunny sky and is forecast to be the same for the afternoon. It was a perfect temperature for warm riding without getting too hot.

Amazing to me how I can forget stuff until someone else shares it!. I saw a turtle on the mup... last week during a pretty heavy rain. There were only 2 of us on the trail and the other guy spotted it - I don't know why it was so exciting but whatever, it was cool. And so was this morning's ride - cool and cloudy

Headwinds the whole way to work ... right around 58 so to me it was chilly.

Had a hard time getting out of bed and getting motivated this morning, but I'm hoping to do four days this week.

Oh ... and I forgot my belt for my dress pants. :crash:

wphamilton 06-09-14 08:47 AM

I had a funny one Friday, some random guy caught me and commented on my home-made fenders then allowed that he hates to put anything extra on his bike. Then he takes off (not exactly a time trial pace ). Now I don't "race" on the Greenway but I will keep in sight contact at a distance and reel them in on empty straights, just to keep them honest. After 2-3 miles he'd pulled his phone out and stopped, and as I rolled by he told me that he missed his parking lot exit. I had to laugh, next parking lot 1 mile ahead or 3 miles back

joeyduck 06-09-14 09:00 AM

Nice, windy. But it was a tail wind for about half and a crosswind for the rest. Weather site says 44 km/h with gusts to 57 km/h.

So I reset my odo on the straight with the wind at my back and tried to see what my average would be. It started well, but I was thwarted by a slow car in a round about and a slow truck around a corner. Between these two I lost my rhythm and was not as fast as I hoped. I still managed to average 32 km/h over 4.05 km with two stop signs, one slow round about. a very slow corner and a slow stop/rail crossing with the semi in front.

FenderTL5 06-09-14 09:06 AM

wet.

About 4:40 this morning I heard the first drops of rain begin to fall, then deluge. I took the short route to a MTA stop.
It was still about 4 miles in heavy rain and puddled streets.
My stuff is hanging/drying, hoping for a better ride home.

Got an early start today because it was so nice I wanted to get a couple extra miles in.

tarwheel 06-09-14 10:04 AM

Some showers rolled through just as I was getting ready to leave for work, so I delayed my start for an hour and did some work from home. I might have just driven but today is supposed to the driest day of the week here. We have entered the "thunderstorm roulette season," with a decent chance of rain just about every day due to the high humidity levels. The plus side is that all the vegetation is very lush and green, and temperatures not obscenely high.

I was going to drive this AM (stomach didnt feel 100% right--probably from something I ate while camping on the WE).

Decided to cycle and was rewarded with...a rare morning tailwind! I sailed in to work! :thumb:

Warm morning in Sacramento 95822. Going to be hot this afternoon. Saw another rider, could be my doppelganger. May be a bad omen.

It was nice, I always wish I could get a mast and literally sail along.

Was all ready for a nice detour along the river to get home rather than my direct route. Then about 6km from my office I broke a spoke, which I noticed when it got caught in my chain! Fortunately I was able to pull it out and hobble back down the hill to my LBS, who repaired it on the spot :-) also fortunate, while 6km away I was also 60m above my office and nearby LBS, so it was an easy coast back down.

i must go the opposite way... Felt a distinct headwind this morning (I commute from new west into Kitsilano, so generally northwest). Felt like it cost me a few minutes!

That is no surprise today. I have been there and can sympathize. The worst I had was one day I could not get over 13 mph on the Byrne road downhill. I was about 10 minutes late to work that day. The wind was just ripping up the Fraser along Kent. Probably like today. How was Chilie?

Glad you got the spoke fixed right away. And nice to get that relax in before work and then a gentle coast to work.

OUCH! I noticed it most on the flats & mild uphills; when I'd normally be crusing at 35-40 km/h (22-25 mph), I was struggling to break 30 km/h (19 mph).

It was great, thanks! Winter time there, so the weather was a bit blah during my conference. Did get a chance to rent a bike though and ride about 15km up the coast along a nice MUP. Much more leisurely pace than I'm used to... was nice!

I'm lucky to have a good relationship with my LBS. I was actually just in there this morning to book myself in for another free service (included with my bike purchase, so why not, right?). Waiting time is 10 days... but they fixed my spoke on the spot for me. Last time I busted a spoke was last summer on my old bike. Busted 3 that day actually. Anyways, took it to a LBS that didn't know me from a hole in the wall.... 3 days to fix!

essiemyra 06-10-14 05:05 AM

It was not as nice a commute as I would have wanted, as it was raining lightly on my ride in. Though, I still rode my bike to work. I am happy with that. Hopefully it will not be raining on my way home. It started raining lightly yesterday on my way home so I went the direct route home.

dcb23 06-10-14 05:10 AM

So muggy out there, like soup: 76F / 24C. Seemed to be twice the number of runners as usual.

mgw4jc 06-10-14 06:18 AM

A really nice morning ride today. Not too hot ~65F. I was not at all sweaty when I got to work. I added a couple of extra miles on the way in and wish I had left even earlier to get more. Tomorrow perhaps.
