I had a nice commute. Cool and calm out. I did have to stop and pick up a tool that popped out of my bag on a rough bridge expansion joint. The second time I went over it I lost my pannier. Then a few months later a rear light and now a multi-tool. I found my pannier and multi-tool. This morning I found remnants of my light in the trucking depot under the bridge; based on the tool trajectory It was too far gone, I do not like 3D puzzles that much.\

I was then able to catch the guy on his mountain bike and I offered him a pull for a bit.

I felt remarkably well and my mass was lower considering I ate and drank like a sailor this weekend. It was a friends birthday and went to a new to me brew pub and got too many imperial pints of local brew.

I just need to do some core and strength training and I will hit 175 by the end of the summer.

i heard a strange rattle on the way to work today I realized my water bottle holder is broken when I went to put my bike up my seat rail is broken too.
i did have a fast ride in average 16.5 fo r 11 miles not bad considering the final part is with downtown traffic lights

I think this morning was my first commute in two weeks. I've been running more, taking days off to work on stuff at home, and taking the truck so I could get home in time to work on stuff. When I bike I don't get home until around 7:00 pm. Nice ride, I missed it. It's supposed to be warm and muggy (OK, for Western Oregon!) this afternoon. Still, biking in that is better than the 10 miles I'm supposed to run in it tomorrow afternoon.

77F 25C and 95% humidity, yeah these are the dog days of summer.

About an hour before quitting time yesterday a pretty good thunderstorm rolled through. It stopped about 15 minutes before I had to ride home. It brought the temperature down a few degrees, but made it feel super humid the rest of the evening.

76F and 80% humidity this morning. I hear a cold front is coming through this afternoon though with some storms and cooler temps. Hopefully tomorrow morning will be better.

Watched the weather radar at work and planned my departure to be in the 30 minute window of sun between thunderstorms. Made it home with 5 minutes to spare! :)

They're forecasting more widespread storms today, so I may not get so lucky.

Woke up this morning to rain and cold ... yes, cold in July (low 50s), so I opted out. Of course I get to work and the sun is out.

Last night's ride home, as I was leaving it started to rain, which I don't mind, especially since it was warmer last night. Anyway, it rained harder than I expected, and I arrived home a somewhat wet, dirty mess. I'm seriously contemplating a clamp on rear mud guard at this point.

I had a SLOW ride in this morning.

I rode the Axel Merckx Gran Fondo on the weekend, about 2/3 of the way around the course my Garmin was reading 44.5*C. It was hot messy day. Still feeling sort of dragged out.

Took yesterday off to catch up on yard work (it rained!) and a SLOW ride in this morning.

Forecast for this afternoon? 38*C. Yippee!

We could sure use some rain around here! That's my lawn talking. The cyclist in me is happy for the cool, dry, sunny mornings. Had a really nice pre-work ride this morning, mixing it up between roads and trails, flats and hills. Wish I could ride all day.

I had a great ride in this morning, and I somehow managed to pick a nice cool July day (how often does that happen?) to leave my water bottle home for the second time. I even got filmed by a Bing Streetside car too.

Great ride. After a late start I took to the surface streets in lieu the Greenway to speed things up, making it in 19 minutes door to door. The best part of that route is near the end coming down a 4% grade I can build up some speed, taking the left lane to pass vehicles at the bottom and on the way up to the office. The automobiles are usually queued up at the light with about half turning right, and of course getting behind the wheel erases their ability to time the lights so I can just blast by them and pass up those just getting up to speed on the climb.

The sun at my house fooled me to think today would be more like yesterday, so I dressed for warm. Before I knew it it was foggy and cool. I could have added a layer, but felt generally fine once I warmed up.

I had a nice fast commute today, getting back to my "old" times again, which felt good.

Had a chain come off my big gear on my cassette this morning. A down shift gone bad. A minute and some dirty hands and I was back on my way.

Almost got doored for the first time too, within a block of my office. Luckily just almost. I am not sure who was more scared, me or the guy who looked back and saw me quickly approaching the door of his Mercedes coupe.

Wore a sweater comfortably in mid-July in St. Louis. Unheardof!

drove today because saddle rails are broken. I did make it home safely though.

any advice what to look for on a saddle? I have only bought saddles attached to bikes. I have a chance to upgrade any recommendations?

I love my Brooks saddle.

Drove today. sad face. But I missed most of rush hour since I was 1+ late.

Buy another one of those kind and just hang on to the bike that was attached in case you need it.

Like some others here, I made it home between storms last night.

A bit cooler this morning (69F) and a bit less humid, so pretty enjoyable. Sun is coming out, but not supposed to get too hot today.

Nice ride to work this morning after severe storms yesterday that dumped record amounts of rain. Fortunately I heeded the forecast and drove yesterday, as we had over 4" of rain during the afternoon commute time and early evening. Streets were flooded all over town. The front that brought all of the rain is supposed to usher in cooler, drier air but that hasn't arrived yet and it was still warm and muggy this morning. The commute this afternoon should be fantastic, with low humidity and temps for this time of year.

Glad I have multiple bikes. I rode my Scott S40 speedster to work today. fastest commute ever. I do have say that I was pretty close in speed in some sections of the commute but in others it was much faster. (comparing my cyclocross commuter with rack and panniers vs naked road bike and backpack) It was fun to dig deep and see the bike respond and accelerate. i am glad i drove yesterday too. it allowed me to bring what I need in so I can ride the rest of the week.

I have to take my seat off my road bike and put on the commuter for the rest of week. I feel like am forgetting something without my panniers.I ordered a saddle last night hopefully it will feel good and work out well. I did not order a Brook$ even after everyones recommendation my wife was shocked by their prices but impressed with everyones reviews. Perhaps on my next bike I will have a Brooks. :)

Just about stalled on a steep gravel incline, after losing some momentum spinning my wheel on a couple loose patches. Later, I chased a guy for about a mile, but he was too fast, and I never got any closer. Beautiful weather: 15C, sunny, no wind. Nice day for a bike ride.

Rode into a wind out of the SW. Not my favorite but I'll take it over driving. Temps in the mid 60s. High humidity in the low 70s. Rare in Sacramento this time of year. Traffic was mellow. I caught every light on the middle leg of the commute which is about 5 miles. I saw half a cat in the ditch. So sign of the other half. Gross. I might buy a new part during lunch.

Daycare wrangling and wife's work schedule didn't allow for any commutes this week. Feels weird after riding 3/5 days last week.

I was thinking more of warrior battle charge yell, I feel there would be some hilarity in it if done at appropriate intervals. Such as starts at green lights, when you approach for a pass or up a hill. I do not feel sustained yelling on a flat is needed.

I did not mean roadie yelling, which seems to equate to a terrier yapping from the descriptions on road forums.

I feel your pain I spent the last two mornings being up around 4 to ensure I get my wife and her in-laws off on their respective journeys. I had to drive yesterday for a car insurance related errand and I ended up driving today since I fell asleep around 6 am and my son got me up at 8 (I normally rise at 6:15 and am at work by 8:15). Driving saved maybe 15 minutes since I showered at home while my son ate breakfast.

I must ride tomorrow or I might lose my mind. I had a good stretch of no driving to work since April. Now three time in 7 days.

My wife and daughter phoned me yesterday afternoon and told me they were coming to pick me up. Hadn't been outside so didn't realize that the heavy haze in the air that I thought was really odd was in fact smoke from a number of forest fires that sparked up during the day.

drove again today, heavy smoke in the air and my girls wouldn't let me ride in case I might breathe in smoke!
