Realized on mile 2 of my 9 mile ride in that I forgot to pack my button up shirt for work. Turned around and picked it up. Bonus = more mileage. Negative, few minutes late to work on a day I wanted to be early. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

Around 15C/59F, sunny, light breeze. Pretty much perfect cycling weather. Could stand a degree or two cooler for the mornings.

Front tire was flat after leaving my bike at work overnight. I thought someone let the air out as a joke. I looked over the tire and couldn't find any damage. I pumped it up to about 60 psi which is all my cheap little pump will do. I got about half way home of my 18 mile commute and noticed the tire was going soft. Stopped and pumped it up again. Made it home with minimal fuss. I pulled the old tube and quickly found the leak. Inspected the tire again and did not find anything that could have cause the flat. I did notice that the tube was too small for my 700 x 35 tires. The bike shop didn't change tubes when installing my new tires a couple of months ago. The tube was only rated up to 700 x 32. Maybe that caused the problem? New tube installed and no problems now.

So, so humid. Was dripping with sweat when I arrived and had to hang out in the bathroom to cool off before appearing in my office.

First commute in a while - missed most of spring due to a home improvement project and no commuting to be done most of June-July due to paternity leave. Also first commute on the new old Super Sport - it's a keeper but probably needs new wheels. Nice cool and humid morning here in the Sacramento region.

I just got a rack and some panniers yesterday, so I loaded them up to try out riding to work without a backpack. My commute took a few minutes longer because my bike was so heavy, but I didn't have anything stuck to my back when I got to work. Win!

The weight of a rack added a few minutes to your commute?

It's doubtful. Tubes can stretch quite a bit to accommodate larger tires. Probably just a one-off thing.

Beautiful weather 75deg today, came across couple of deer crossing, 2 cayotes and 3 rabbits all in a span of 10 miles. Started commuting monday, 20 miles one way. Not sure why i never did this earlier. I'm already thinking of what to buy for winter commute.

Had you already been doing long rides? Congratulations and I hope you can make it work. I think that's too far for me every day.

I don't like a backpack compared to luggage but it is less draggy. It's hidden in a wake you were making anyhow.
Unless they've been patched! Then you get a stress riser around the reinforcement of the patch as the tube inflates to fill the tire, and eventually it will work itself apart. I found such a leak on my then-gf's bike.

Yeah we are going to my in-laws, who live on an island off an island, so a morning of travel mostly on boats. The island is about 5 km around. So leisure biking on gravel roads. My son can work on his two wheel skills (with training wheels probably). We are house sitting an ocean view place and have no obligations.

Interesting! That hasn't happened to me yet, but MTB tubes in particular can look funny if you inflate them outside the tire after patching. If the leak is gradual enough, I like to get some air into the tube while patching so it'll be closer to the inflated shape.

This afternoon we spent about 5 hours on a quite beach with only boat traffic. I swam for most of the time (3-4 hours worth). Ate for the rest. Did some diving a got a few almost legal crabs, threw them back since we did not bring cooking stuff and just had a picnic.
Maybe a cigar on the porch tonight and point and laugh at the big smoke across the Salish Sea.

On Tuesday afternoon I forgot my water bottle and about the second hill my mouth was dry. Those last 3 miles were rough. Yesterday all was good with fast times and awesome commutes. Today I am in my truck as my wife is out of town and I have to take my little girl to school and pick her up. I will be back riding tomorrow.

I rode my bike to work today! And yesterday, and... nevermind.
I was able to add a couple of miles in this morning. Nothing eventful, just a little over 14 miles of rolling along.
Possible rainy day tomorrow, but probably not enough threat to keep me from riding.

Interesting morning today, I meant to ride my best friend's bike this morning to try it out: it's a 2005 Specialized Allez that my friend left on his balcony for the last 5 years so everything was cover with dust and rust. I fixed everything and this morning was the first road test. I intended to leave early to leave some room for any problems that may occur on a first ride but as I prepared to leave I saw that the front tire was flat. I quickly changed the tube but the new tube busted while I inflated it: I went too fast and pinched the tube between the rim and the tire. By the time I switch the Wheel from my regular commuter I was already just on time.
Luckily everything else went just fine apart from the rear Wheel bearing that might need to be adjust a bit tighter.
the ride itself was okay, I didn't have time to stop for any ajustement so the handlebar was too high and I missed my cycling shoes.
there was almost no Wind which gave me a brake.
I also got honked at for only the second time in 4 years of commuting on that road. I waved at it in a friendly manner (really). It might be the first time he take MY road but he'll get used to me rapidly: I'm there 4 mornings/week

My commute was great. I almost drove in. I woke up 30 minutes late and thought I could ride in if I was on my road bike but decided to just haul it on my FX. I made it in on time with 15 minutes to cool down. Weather Gods were on my side-no wind or rain. Heat was on of course living in Florida 82 with a heat index of 90 at 7 a.m. The morning commute is the best time of my day.
