Living in the valley blues...
While I've got a pretty short commute now I've been lucky as the last few weeks the treasure valley in Idaho has been stuck in a nasty inversion (google it if you're not aware). The air in boise is heavy and wet and every morning and early afternoon it's been "snowing" which is basically the atmosphere freezing and falling, and not to mention foggy every day during it. This is the time of year I get a bit fed up with riding as the all the pollutants in the area just sit in the valley and don't move trapped by pressure, it's been a while since I've seen any studies comparing the boise air during inversions but I'm assuming it's really bad.m any other valley livers stuck in crappy air?

Our air has been crappy for about a month and a half now.
On the flip side, it's hard to complain too loudly when it's near or over 70 degrees every day. |
I feel ya Fizzaly, this inversion is really getting to be a bummer! It will pass (hopefully sooner than later :))
Cheers, Chris |
The air here in the Salt Lake valley is disgusting right now... bad enough that I bought a mask.

I grew up in Nampa, and I remember the air inversions all too well. Horrible.
I think your solution is to ride above it all by climbing Bogus Basin :) |

I hear ya, Fizzaly. The cloud/inversion has FINALLY broken (after almost a month) somewhat where I live. Just seeing the sun poking through the cloud is making me feel better.

here in the napa valley we've been stuck in 65-70 degree temps, with beautiful clear skies and breezes, all January. so I guess all valleys differ. :P
that said, it's been a drought, and this summer might be horribly dry unless spring absolutely drenches us. going to be a bad vintage for most wine varietals too, wine makers are going crazy. |
Try Fresno .. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...y-air-is-toxic
