Anyone using the OGIO Mach 5 backpack?
Anyone using this backpack? I was thinking about getting it for commuting...

Might be better for motorcycles where you're not really exerting much effort i.e. sweating like you do on a bike. After finally adding a rack and trunk bag to my road bike that I use for commuting, all I gotta say about a backpack is - NEVER AGAIN! :)

You can get either a Deuter or Osprey pack designed for cycling for the same or less money.

Ogio's site claims it's "nearly waterproof". I know for a fact that backpacks made by the major mess bag brands(T2,Chrome,etc) are waterproof. Also,stiff-sided bags like that don't deal well with overstuffing. There's also no way to attach things to the outside;I've tucked things under the flap/straps of my bags many times.

for the money, get a rolltop from Chrome. Much more flexibility in carrying things.
the hardshell "aero" bags seem cool but when you're on the bike, they just end up looking really dorky. In the same way a Segway seems cool but is completely dorky when you see someone riding one. |
