A sure sign of spring...

A sure sign of spring here in North Carolina is the canker worm. I had one hitch a ride on my handlebars for about 10 miles this morning. When stepping out for my lunch break I saw this one on my back wheel.

Who else is starting to see these guys show up?

I haven't seen those, but I did see a bumble bee this weekend.

a sure sign of spring in MN is apparently more snow... 2 more inches here tonight, maybe a foot not far north of us.

tjspiel 04-15-14 01:23 PM

I saw a canker worm and bumblebee getting ready to build a snowman.

We got enough to coat the lawn and trees here.

I'm choosing to ignore those minor setbacks and focus on the fact that the grass is greening, migratory birds are returning, and in 3 weeks I'll be helping get the sailboat club's boats out of storage and into the water.

Let's hope the ice is gone by then.

We have migratory birds, bees, flowers, leaf buds here, but as for me, still waiting on new bike & new helmet..

Snowing here, 17*F tonight. I guess I took the studded tires off too soon.

It was 75*F two days ago.

We had green grass, seasonal allergies, snow and below freezing temperatures this morning.

Hey, you've only got so many days on this earth. Today you had 3 seasons worth all crammed into one. You should be thankful.

Yesterday I was wearing shorts and today it is snowing, tomorrow it looks like it will be short weather again.

Welcome to springtime in Alberta.

I know! This weather isn't too unusual for this area for this time of year.

This morning we had ice pellets and snow. Winter just refuses to let go. Most of it has melted but I still have icicles hanging on my balcony.

Yea, this winter was a bear. I love snow, even enjoy shoveling, but it was just too severe. One day it went from 58 in the afternoon to below zero overnight. Very unusual. One thing i do not like about winter is the bulky clothes, pants, jacket, & if its really cold you gotta wear 1-2 thermal pants & multiple shirts etc. Looking forward to some t-shirt & shorts riding! :)

Spring is a myth.

Edit:
Ok, I retract my statement. I took a detour through Valley Forge National Park on the way home. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=375018I can see signs of life resurfacing.

I agree. I myth thpring a lot.

Ah . . . really no different here in SoCal. It stays light longer, gets light earlier but the birds, bugs, bees, etc. all seem to be about the same year round (yeah, boring, I know).

Plus, winter must have been cancelled here this year. No sign of it beyond one weekend where it really rained at lot (and dropped snow on the mountains).

Return of the migratory bikes.

Poor things. I thinks it's only their second week back.

We call those inch worms around here.

Spring is definitely here in southern PA. My daffodils and hyacinths are in full bloom, and my tulips are not far behind. I'll have to mow the grass this weekend, as it's getting pretty long. We did get a bit of a cold blast this week, with temps dipping into the 20s. It won't be too much longer before I can plant my vegetables outside.
