Try WFPK from Louisville, KY. Especially Friday and Saturday Nights. This NPR station streams Blues and R&B all night. Another good 3 hour show is Sound Clash on Friday night.

We have a great NPR station in the Triangle area of NC, WUNC. If I had to restrict my listening to one radio station, this would be my choice. However, I must admit that I was laughing so hard that I cried watching the SNL send-up of the NPR food show.

Wait, wait (don't tell me)... I posted this because I thought the article on bike commuting was good - didn't expect such an interesting debate on NPR! For me Morning Edition and morning commute are synonymous - I listen every morning (except during the pledge drives). Other than the occasional "vocal fry" (look that one up) that drives me nuts, I appreciate most programs (can't listen to Keillor either) - Car Talk rules

The problem with e-bikes is they always want to build a super high end crazy design around the electric drive that may not work the way some/most serious riders want it to. These range from U and Y frames to odd folding types. The bottom bracket design that optibike came out with is nice, but they are $$$$ and some of their designs are frankly not appealing. Full suspension for commuting is not even close to ideal.

If e-bikes are to gain adoption, these companies need to stop catering to recreational and "hey look at me" riders and create an affordable road & hybrid commuter line that people want to ride as their car replacement.

I did not even bother looking at an e-bike to replace my cruiser because of all the things listed above. If they can't sell to an eccentric guy like me who both likes quirky and needs practicality, then in a honesty they are doing something wrong. I've even stopped recommending e-bikes. I think they are great for bike rentals in cities etc, but for take-home use, i just don't see it progressing till some fundamental changes are made.

My wife and I cannot stand Car talk because of the two characters' constant obnoxiously loud cackling and guffawing at their own corny jokes. When they finally get around to talking about cars the content is good but it doesn't outweigh their goofball vaudevillian delivery.

I think of it more as an entertainment show that sometimes offers up some practical car advice. I find myself cackling right along with them. A couple of MIT grads that don't take themselves too seriously and don't need to flaunt their "intellect", I find it refreshing.

Funny, the corny jokes are why I listen. I couldn't care less about the car repair advice, though sometimes it is interesting, much of it is over my head. As cobrabyte said, they are entertainers, but they also manage to give life advice as much as car maintenance advice.

They're actually MIT grads? I've seen the Dewey Cheatem and How sign in Hahvahd Square but wasn't sure if they actually recorded their broadcasts there or not.

For some reason, it still flabbergasts me to think of Alec Baldwin riding a bicycle. I don't know why. After that article, I wonder if he'll still do NPR fundraising bits (other than the "Don't give" ones, that is.)

I still think it would be fun to see live once but after that I'd be OK if I never heard another show. It's sad for me to say because I used to really enjoy the program but it has run its course. Kudos to them for keeping it going for 40 years but that's hard to do without the format and material getting stale. I'm afraid that is what has happened. Click and Clack were right to quit doing their show before the same thing happened to them.

There's still some great weekend programming on NPR as others have mentioned. Radiolab is awesome. School kids should be given extra credit for listening to an episode and passing a simple quiz on it. This American Life and Wait-Wait Don't Tell Me are great too. Not a big fan of the Splendid Table.

CBC trumps NPR. They have some great programming up here. I used to listen to NPR in the States, but now it seems to be CBC or nothing.

Bad jokes indeed. I owned a car two years of life, back in the 80's. When they get around to talking about cars, I often think, huh, that's a thing?
