How Do You Say 'Kamikazee" in French?

Ran across this bike commute video from Paris. Too reckless, too crowded, but unbelievably thrilling!

That's a lot of fun to watch. And that dude is quite the cyclist - he was keeping up with the cars and motorcycles and mopeds very well.

Reminds me of the way taxi drivers in South China drive - going into the oncoming traffic lanes in order to pass slower cars and buses. Can't imagine doing that every day. You would think eventually you are bound to get hit head-on.

Looks pretty mundane to me. If you think that's scary, Wow. I'm at a loss for words. Some of you must live a REALLY sheltered life. Jmo.

Seems like more fun and less clunk than this Amsterdam commute video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAZ67pfxN7w

Lot more commuters in Amsterdam though.

You are the only person who used the word "scary" in this thread. I deal with 55-65 mph traffic. If I was scared I don't think I'd go out.

I could only watch a few minutes, but didn't see anything particularly reckless or thrilling, either, just typical big city riding. But, maybe I missed the good parts.

Mainly he's just salmoning against oncoming car and bus traffic to pass slower vehicles in his lane. But they are all moving so slow it's not "thrilling". Maybe "entertaining" would be a better word, at least until he gets in a head-on.

It can be either (spelled the same way in both cases), so it depends on the gender of the individual.

Actually, I assumed that there isn't just one kamikaze but multiple. (The gender comment also is true, I didn't know. )

Other than the initial counterflow on a narrow street, this was no big deal at any level. Traffic is lighter than any of the larger cities in the USA, and speed differentials slower. The timing game with crossing pedestrians is part of the fun of urban commuting.

The only thing I found interesting is that it seems Paris has finally gotten around to repaving many of the block streets.

It depends on the person to whom you are referring to. If male, then it's masculine. If female, then feminine. If you don't know the gender of the person to whom it refers, then you use the masculine form. In this case, the youtube poster in the video is male so the masculine form is used.

Stealth edit: same spelling for both genders. That's not usually the case, but it is for this word.

I re-watched the video and it was not quite as intense as the first view. I watched it first on the big screen tv sitting on the couch. Then again this morning on the computer. maybe the big screen made it more immersive.
