I got a new lid for commuting.

I dropped by my LBS this afternoon and snagged this limited edition giro E2 for half off.

It's the green one. I figured I'll save my giro pneumo for the roadie on the weekends and grab something with a visor for the sun and rain while I'm commuting.

Nice Slvoid! I've not seen many helmets with the visor painted to match. Nice touch.

Yeah I haven't found many helmets with matching visors. I saw the helmet a while ago and thought it looked cool but for the price, I told the guy at the lbs, "whoa.. I'm not sure if my life is worth that much." But he told me he could get me a discount. I went back a week later and he said since I bring them food and beer and it's missing the helmet pod, I could have it for half off.
I had wanted a new helmet anyway. I saw someone with a black helmet just like mine and at intersections, it was really hard to see. A bright helmet definitely stands out in traffic, especially when parked cars block driver's view of your body but they can still see the helmet.

That looks like a good color match for a Giant FCR3.

From one happy E2-devoted owner to another... congrats on the purchase... especially at half-off. I thought I did good when I got the limited edition with the helmet pod at 25% off. Curiously enough... and although I didn't mean to do it, mine does match my bike. I like that matching visor... mine isn't matching.

I thought I would like the short "road visor" on my Pneumo. It's just a little too short. Do you know if any of the longer Giro visors would fit on the Pneumo? Like that one for example? BTW nice lid.

Is it me or does the E2 fit awfully high on the head. When I have my skull cap on, my pneumo has maybe half an inch of air space for air to flow. The E2 has almost an inch and a half.

How do you fit a visor on the pneumo? There isn't any place to snap onto.

It could be that it only seems like it sits high because it has more openness for greater airflow at low speeds. Remember that it's designed to be more of a MTB-oriented helmet. That said, the fit on mine is close enough to give me this sporting helmet-head...

Good god, what the hell are you doing up so early...

Hmm.. makes sense though. Just makes me feel awful alien looking, especially with the big green lid on my dome.

And here I am watching old episodes of The Green Hornet on the Encore-Action channel picturing you in your helmet.

Although I'm a member of the order of the foam hat, I prefer the biggest ugliest lid I can find for $10.

They must have changed it, mine has the typical Giro holes to snap into. It came with a visor on it. They called it a "road" visor. It's very short. I think mine is 3 years old. Maybe it did not sell that way, it kind of ruins the nice "roadie" lines that the helmet has without it.

Sadly, my pneumo has no holes and no visor. I think mine is the 2004 version.
