I'm not sure why this is better than a traditional key lock. It basically IS a key lock, actually. It's just a funny key.

Ehhhh. I see all of these companies trying to get funky with lock designs. Most likely, when it comes to stuff like this the lock is either going to be:
1) Super easy to pick/break (probably very likely in this case)
2) Stop working due to it's novelty

In this case, it looks like a cheap lock with a novelty key mechanism.

If I were you, I would invest a little bit more and get a good (Kryptonite/OnGuard) U lock + cable lock combo and not worry about it ever again.

Not trying to be favoring anything, however the online info seems to indicate that magnetic locks have better security over traditional locks -

Probably might not be as cut-resistant as OnGuard, Kryptonite though...

btw, i own a Masterlock chain lock but find it rather heavy

Yeah uh for the price those are probably inferior quality locks. Just stick with your master lock.

A thief doesn't care about what kind of key the lock takes since it's easier to either cut the lock or the thing the bike is locked to. Or cut through the bike itself if it has good parts.

As cheap as they're selling this thing, it simply cannot be a good quality chain. It doesn't matter if you have a completely pick-proof lock if it's attached to a crappy chain. I don't think anyone picks locks anyway, they use bolt cutters or hacksaws.

The thing about locks...or really anything, is that you should be given all of the info and decide what works for you. It is true that some designs might not be practical, but they may work for you. The forever lock is a great example. That thing will not break but it is a little hard to use (seriously though that thing will not break, a guy on youtube keeps putting liquid nitrogen on it and hitting it with hammers), still you might like it and be willing to take the time to open it.

Really it comes down to what you are comfortable with. If anyone wants your bike really bad there is only so much you can do to stop them. At least be comfortable with your own lock.
