Do you regularly inspect your tires?
The other day before leaving for home I took a minute to inspect my tires and found a pointy rock that had lodged itself fairly deep into my front tire and pried it out, and very likely saved myself from my second flat this week. Since then I've been making it a point to give my tires a quick look for obvious problems. Does anyone else here do this?

I check my tires closely about once a week or so.
|
I do it every few days depending on how much debris I've ridden through on my commutes.
To make it easy I hang my bike on the top rack of my bike hanger and use my phone flashlight to do a quick spin of each tire to see if there is any glass or other crap stuck in it. I found apiece of brown glass (beer bottle) wedged in there a few weeks ago but not deep enough to puncture the tube. I dug it out and filled the hole with Silicon adhesive and all is well. I'm sure if I had ridden the next day with it, it would have worked its way to the tube. |
I check at least once a year. This is probably the downside of having full coverage fenders. The rear tire is a hassle to check without putting the bike in the stand, and the lighting in my garage is so bad that I need a flashlight to properly check the tires even then.
When I do check I usually find a few slivers of glass embedded in the tread. Apparently the barrier that stopped them to begin with continues to stop them afterward. |
I inspect mine every time I get a flat.

Also any time it's in a bike stand. |
I should do it more often, but I usually don't catch debris until it's worked its way through to the tube.

about once a week. i also inspect when i pick up a tick, tick noise while cycling.

I do, I run Schwalbe Marathon Mondial tires which are rather heavy flat resistant tires. I have not had a flat with them for about 8000 miles.

Worth doing it at least weekly. Takes two minutes, saves a lot of time on the road.
|
Yes, of course.
|
I flip my bike upside down twice per week and inspect my tires.
|
Every time I ride. The bike lane on my way home from work is full of glass.
