Kenda Kwest or Conti Sport Contact Slick ?
I have a set of Kenda Kwest 1.5 slicks that are rated for 100 psi that I've been very happy with. I will be outfitting another bike soon and I cannot seem to find the 100 psi version anymore. BikeTiresDirect carries the Kwest but their 1.5 version is only rated for 65 psi.

I called them and was told that they make 3 different versions of the Kwest and that they just don't have the 100 psi version anymore.
As an alternative I have read some good things about the Conti Sport Contact. It's only 85 psi but it has a very high thread count.

Should I go with the Conti's ? Or can anyone recommend a fast, high pressure 1.5 slick ?
Thanks,
Joe

I've got the Contis. Like them quite a bit, but I don't have enough miles on them to really make a judgement. I also have Primo racers, which definitely roll a little better and which can be inflated to 100 PSI but which have a lower thread count.
I'm not terribly sold on the benefits of higher PSI. My commute is - very consistently - ~1:20 on the 80PSI contis, ~1:15 on the 100PSI Primos. That's over 20 miles. The lower pressure ride is soooo much more comfortable that it's easily worth the 5 minutes.

I live in the burbs of CT and it's weird to read about all the flats people get on these forums.....I ride a fair amount and I haven't had a flat in years...I rarely see glass in the road and when I do it's easily avoided.
I'm still not sure which tire I'm going to get. I also used to run the Kenda Cross tire which was a 1.95" slick with knobbies on the side. I liked the looks of a wider tire on my bike but at only 65 psi I was eventually lured away by the promise of more speed with the 100 psi Kenda Kwest 1.5".
It's tough because I'm going to use the bike primarily for exercise and to ride with my girls. I will be riding mostly roads but would try some smoother fire roads & bike paths if I can find the time to pack up everyone and drive to them. But when I ride by myself I like to be fast. I have a friend I ride with who has a hybrid and I'd like to not be a drag on him when we ride together too.

Go with Specialized Nimbus Ex. Air them up to 100 psi, and they are virtually bullet proof. Good luck.
