I rode this one at the shop and liked it, especially the handlebars, it's a steel fork aluminum frame. Would it be a better idea? Specialized Sirrus 2014 ? Pedal The Planet
|
The Sirrus is a popular and well liked bike on the forums. Don't worry about carbon vs aluminum; most people ride aluminum bikes and live to tell about it! The problem with carbon fiber frames is that while carbon fiber is very strong, it can can shatter easily. I baby my carbon fiber bike.
If you want a smoother ride, get a bike that will accept wider tires and run at lower pressures. Road bikes generally take 25mm tires. You might be lucky to find one that can take 28mm. The Sirrus comes with 28s but might be able to fit 32 for a plusher ride. Here's very basic info on bike frame materials: Understanding Bike Frame Materials. |

Thank everyone for their advice, I wound up not getting either bike. I tried this one: Breezer Greenway 2014 and love it, so that's what I got.
Thanks everyone! |
