Saw an interesting run in today
So I was coming home from the grocery store and I was waiting for the light to change at an intersection with a cop next to me. When this guy in a silver Nissan SUV flies by, abruptly slams on his brakes, gets out and yells "Police! POLICE!" He keeps yelling so I tap on the cruiser's windows and point at the the guy when the cop looks at me. The officer rolls down his window and the guy explains he was rear ended and the guy who hit him was "trying to kill him." He repeats the "trying to kill me" part a few times. The guy was hyperventilating and seemed seconds away from having a heart attack. The Nissan did look like someone rear-ended it. This rather large guy pulls up in a dark blue or black Chevy SUV gets out and nonchalantly walks over. The guy who was hit says again "He's trying to kill me!" I didn't want to get in the middle so I left.
A couple minutes later I hear a siren coming up from behind me and an ambulance heading towards the nearest Westward cross street passed me on the next avenue. I'd love to upload a video clip cause it really was quite something to see. Unfortunately my helmet camera ran out of juice due to my failure to charge it last night. Nuts huh? And all over a little collision with the damage on the Nissan being basically cosmetic. |
Silly humans. Glad you didn't end up getting entangled!

Don't know how you could have left without seeing how that one played out.

I've seen some pretty disturbing stuff happen while i am out riding, from wildlife meeting its end to drunk people staggering out of places and falling and injuring themselves, as well as more cheerful stuff like whole families on legit bikes with good helmets riding safely and responsibly out to get ice cream. The world is an interesting place, you just notice it more because you're not locked in a greenhouse on wheels.

Just another day in cagedom. It's kind of like watching cats fighting... Would have liked to see the video though

I did that on a ride a couple weekends ago. Just a skinned knee, though.
And as for legit bikes, i mean ones anyone knowing many important things about bikes would be proud to own. One family had all trek FX's of different sizes, and matching bell helmets with lights attached (not turned on, it was mid day). - Andy |

OP you really left us a cliff hanger. No fair at all. I really wanted to hear how this played out. Hopefully the poor guy didn't have that heart attack though.

Got it. Proper name brand and LBS provenance of bicycles as well as correct branding of accessories, not to mention having lights available in the daytime. You have been trained/indoctrinated well by your LBS connections and Internet friends.

Do you think typing something like this is necessary?

Sure, as necessary as any other typing on BF; especially so as a response to fey comments about cheerful stuff like "legit" bicycles and "good' helmets.

I don't bother with bike shops unless i need something like a tube, and as for internet friends.. huh?
- Andy There's just something about that grinning cat. Everybody annoys him sooner or later. He's one of us since he does like to bike. But he gets impatient with us, too. |
