Rainy day, leaving work, other office biker (who drove that day) sees me down the hall in my gear and helmet and says, "You're making me look bad."

Funny, I thought to my self, "He's making himself look bad for not riding." Suffice to say, I'd rather commute on bike than drive or wait on the rainy corner waiting for the bus. I like riding in the rain.

With regard to the OP ... People are weird sometimes. Good response to them.

I didn't realize Wisconsin was a warmer climate :D Its all about the combination of clothes and ziplock baggies. My skin doesn't actually get wet except for my face. Water resistant stuff works fine for me though since I've only got a short commute.

The melt thing for me came from the wizard of oz witch melting from a bucket of water.

I don't mind riding in a cold rain if I'm prepared. I love riding in a warm rain, and I think my favorite part about that is when I get home and look down and see that my ankles are really really dirty. Why is this so satisfying? I have no idea.

I would like the rain if I didn't wear glasses. I love snow. I hate the wind.

50F and rain? Bring it on! That's nothing. Seriously though, 40F and below and you can't fool around.

My mom's variation was "***** don't melt". I grew up in such a loving enviroment. :D

If we ever get a warm summer rain, I will try it...Only rains in winter and then those fronts from Seattle..We only know cold rains and Californians melt when wet and below 60 F.

This might be true under certain "practical" conditions, but It can't be a universal scientific fact. If you need a walker to get to your car, you will certainly get wetter than if you could run like the Flash.

Commuting in the rain isn't that bad if you have good rain gear & booties but it is more difficult to patch a tube, so I always carry spare tubes so all I have to do is swap out the punctured tube & deal with it back home in my heated garage. Don

I live on top of a hill and now only live about 2 miles from campus all downhill the way there so I just wear full raingear on the way to class and I'm dryer than anyone else. On the way back I could care less if I get wet and I only wear patagonia t-shirts now so when they get wet they dry extremely quick. I may get lasik for my eyes though so I don't have to wear the glasses in the rain anymore. I think I should while I'm still in college and my parents may pay for it (and I'll have good health insurance).

Don't forget to throw in a few head twitches and eye tics while answering them.
