Quality wide 26" fender suggestions?

Hey all,
I am in need of a sturdy aftermarket 26" fender with adequate clearance for some fairly wide, knobby tires. I was using some Planet Bike hardcore thermoplastic fenders, and have recently destroyed the front fender. I am running some WTB Velociraptor 26x2.1 tires this winter, which have a pretty aggressive tread into the side of the tire. The planet bike fenders were technically wide enough, but even with careful installation and adjustment, were not rigid enough to resist swaying from side to side while riding around corners and on rough road. They would sometimes bump into the side tread of the tire near the mudflap, and eventually caught enough of the tread to get "sucked in", destroying the front fender and mounting hardware. The rear fender of this set is quite well designed and has had no issues.
I am wondering if anybody has found a fender with clearance for these wider tires that would be solid enough to avoid the aforementioned problems of the Planet Bike setup.
Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Head over to Boulder Bicycle and look at the stainless steel fenders. They are some work to fit on a bike, but well worth it.

I've had really good luck with SKS p65 chromoplast fenders; I'm currently running a 26x2.0 Marathon Supreme, and could go a lot fatter.

sorry I don't remember the brand but if you see fenders that looks like these I found them good. they are a major / common name brand sold retailers in Massachusetts. I checked the website of the store where I bought them 6 yrs ago. probably planet bike, scroll down. I also got the hydrid fenders for my hybrid bike and liked them so much I got the same for my mountain bike

I've had a different experience with them. I'm running 2.1" Schwalbe Big Bens, and they fit fine, but I have two gripes:

1) They're too flexy. The front is OK, but I spent weeks trying to keep the rear fender off the rear tire. I'd refit them or bend the stays and they'd still be rubbing. Maddening.

2) They aren't long enough. When I was running VO's or Honjo's over smaller diameter tires my feet didn't hardly get wet, not only do they get wet generally if it is wet out, but if I go through big puddles my feet get absolutely drenched.

I'm going to be moving them to another bike soon, and when I do I am going to try retrofitting sturdier stays to the rear fender. I think the stays just aren't strong enough.

In addition, (and I know this doesn't matter to some folks), they aren't the greatest fenders aesthetically. They aren't uniform, SKS fenders always seem to have a sideways curve in them (probably happens in the curing process). It bugs me to walk up to the bike from the rear and see the fender curving off to one side.

I'm with Post number ^5^, I have SKS Mudguards and With Studded tires I too set them up with generous clearance and snow packing has not been an issue..
