Alright, until now 150 miles.
As far as my calculations are right, I'm heading to 500 miles at the end of the year, as for commuter rides.
At this point, there are already 18 forum users over 500 miles... Do I have to stop my logs already for commuter rides? :)
So I can only lift up my mileage for recreative rides further more...

I have now up to 2500+ miles in 9 weeks. Two centurys completed this year.

2 centuries commuting? Is the 2500 total miles, or is that commuting miles?

This is the 2015 commuting mileage thread. See how people list their total commuting miles? Why don't you do that too?

Some members have really long commutes and there are no rules against taking a longer route if you wish. And if you reach 500 miles well before the end of the year, you've set your goal too low. :)

At this rate you will be over 600 miles by the end of the year. Keep posting! If you want, you can include your total bicycle miles in parentheses, like these folks do:

gregf83 even documents how many commuting days he's ridden versus how many commuting day opportunities -- [30/37], so far.

Or I have to redefine what "commuting" counts for.

I currently only count my "home > work" route. All the other stuff I count into my "recreative" rides.

But currently I'm also getting my kids from school with a trailer I hung on my bike, it's just 1 or 2 miles a day... but as it is not to work, I can't count it as commuting? Or should I do it, as I do it regularly and it's actually not a "recreative" ride... it replaces a car ride.

Now the weather is getting better, I'm more often going to ride until the next railway station (instead of the most nearby station), so I get more miles faster.

No, I can't count it linearly, as there will be a full month where I won't commute, and there will be holidays... but then I'll have the opportunity to ride more recreative tours.

Kinda silly, I knew I was moving to a home office this year, so why did I get started with this thread??? This week marks my last week going to the office 5 days a week. I'll work from home a couple days a week and go to the office a couple days a week until end of June, then work from home 100%. I'll keep updating until July, then.... riding for the fun of it.

Some cyclists here also post the number of commute rides they complete in addition to mileage. Mileage isn't the only gauge of commuting involvement. In addition, many riders extend their commuters mileage by taking longer routes than the shortest possible distance between their home and work. However, in the spirit of this thread, one should not be counting recreational rides, tours and other riding as commuting mileage.

Strictly speaking, only rides between home and work count as "commuting". But if you happen to pick up groceries or go on a club ride along the way, that would certainly count. I don't know if the "Utility" forum has a mileage thread, but anything that replaces a car ride would count there. :thumb:
