Best city in the country IMHO - perfect weather year round. I actually am disappointed because they are calling for temps in the high 30's this weekend. BRRRR.
Yes. The north has the great sites (Great Wall, TerraCotta Warriors). But we have Shangri La. Way different lifestyle here in Kunming than anywhere on the east coast of China to be sure. Much more laid back and much less 'westernized'. |

As for me, I'm a software engineer at a company that started out in radios, but has since expanded into avionics and other fields. They treat me pretty well. :)

Yeah it is beautiful. I have lived here for nearly a decade and we have had snow 1 time which amounted to about an inch and was gone by noon. A couple of other times we got flurries. The pictures you refer too could be of some of the higher elevation areas. Lots of mountains here so it is easy to go find snow if you are so inclined. Summer weather will be high 60's at night and high 70's to low 80's during the day. It is rainy season so expect some rain. Plenty of good stuff and see and do depending on what you are into. Also, I strongly suggest that if you do come during the summer that you do so early summer - i.e. before mid-July - as the school break is from mid July to September 1 so tourist areas have much higher traffic. Also less chance of rain early summer as well...i.e. mid June. If you decide to come, let me know as having lived here a long time I have lots of contacts with people that can help arrange various outings and things for you. Bottom line: I got the insider knowledge and/or know people who do. |

I'm a full-time student in community college and a restaurant server. I like to think that I'm also a quasi-professional brewer, but I don't sell my beer for profit; only to raise funds for charity rides. Aids Lifecycle is the current event, followed by BikeMS: Waves to Wine.

I was prior military until I was honorably discharged in fall of 2013. I now work full time as an attendant at a military fitness center. This is a dream for me as I can commute to work and use the lockers and showers after my bike commutes. I am pursuing my Bachelors degree in Public Health.
