Difficult bike tire removal/installation
 

Hello fellow riders!
Some tire and rim combinations are hard to work with.
I made a video with some tips that maybe can help.

the only tools I use are these 3 red plastic levers

That's why I made the video. If you follow my instructions; it's possible to use just 2, 1 or
even none(0 levers). Depending on the tire and rim combination of course.

Are these the levers you are using?

i watched the whole video. it was clear, and very informative. good for you for taking the time to make the video. but...

OTOH, IME, i would put that tire/rim in the "tires that want to go on the rim" category. for instance, a tire that is in the category of "difficult to put on a rim" will show it's colors right off the bat by being difficult to lever even one bead over the rim, sans rim strip, or tube, with the use of two Pedro's tire levers. :lol:

+1 ....Michelin xxxxx(tire name here) Rim: Anything with a 15mm internal sizing......


On the other hand.....I have had no issue with any tire I have tried on 18mm internal width rims. I can mount the Michelin Pro4's on the Boyd rims without any issues, and they are a breeze to remove with one lever.

I love how everyone posts videos that involve rims with massively deep channels, which are trivial to mount tires on. Just once I'd like to see a video with someone mounting a tight tire on a tubeless rim with no tools.

All of my tires are wire bead and most of them have stiff thick sidewalls, impossible to remove without at least one tire lever. I can remove most tires with using only one tire lever, but I still carry two plastic and one metal tire levers, just in case I run into problems. I've broken plastic levers before...Also it's a lot easier to do it in the comfort of your living room then outside.

one of the reasons i've completely switched to folders...so much easier to get on and off (in general).
