That wasn't luck, that was pure, calm badassery. She was off the bike before the car made contact!

She surely has quick reflexes and sang froid!

Was the light red for the oncoming driver? Who was in the wrong here?

The badassery is multiplied ten fold when she calmly walks over and picks up her purse before attending to the bike.

Wow. She needs to give lessons, that could come in handy.

This type of things must happen regularly there. Cat-like reflexes, and so calm and cool.

I think the light was green for the cars. The reason she was crossing against the light was because the cars going the direction the camera is pointed were stuck in traffic and not moving. Ultimately I think that caused her problem. She was watching them, looking toward the camera and never glanced in the other direction until too late. I've watched that 3 times and still don't see how she did that. Maybe she's a gymnast?

This looks to me like jerking a tablecloth out from under a set of dishes. The bike was yanked out from under her and she happened to come out standing up. She must have had her left pedal/foot up and right one down so when the bike was hit she just stayed put.

And even after taking that hit, the bike appears to be fine.

+1 Just a timing thing. the car hit the front of the bike, impacting below the handlebars and knocking it to the left and forward, The gal wasn't hit or injured. I suspect she was surprised but finding herself on her feet and uninjured, she did what came naturally, by picking up her important possessions.

It had a low step frame.......... easy on/off.

I had a lucky get-off years ago. Had a backpack full of groceries and cut down a side street that was cobblestone with old trolly tracks. Tried to cross the tracks to get to the smoother center,wasn't at enough of an angle,and the bike went out from under me. No idea how I did it,but I came off the bike(standard frame),grabbed the left bar-end with my right hand,and just stumbled forward a few feet and stopped. I was just suddenly standing next to the bike holding it by the handlebar. Would love to have seen video of how I managed that.

Is this even legit? I could see it better if there were more frames per second, but I can't see the amazing move in the video.

She is lucky she wasn't clipped in...That's one good reason not to use clipless pedals when commuting, faster dismount.

I don't know if that was a skilled dismount or the bicycle version of the pulling the tablecloth out from under trick. I suspect some of both, but mostly the latter. The bike hit the bike forward of her, and spun it out from under her, which was only possible because of the very open frame design.

Anyway, the best part was how blase everybody was, including the cabbie who calmly got out to check if any debris might have dinged the cab. Yawn!, car hits bike, lady hops off, so what else is new, ho hum, time to move on.

I'm thinking it was the step through frame that save her. Good point.
