Can someone recommend a tire for me

Hi all, Im a little confused on the tires on my commuter. I have a 2008 or 2009 trek 7.2 fx. I have 700x35 tires on front and back. I just put on the bontrager fenders that should fit that size and the back wheel rubs against the fender no matter what i do. The front tire is fine.

I want to keep the fenders because I am riding this bike in snow and melting snow right now. Should i get like a 700x32 tire for the back? Or even smaller. I feel like this bike is really slow.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

How wide are the fenders? To properly fit over a 35mm tire your fenders need to be 45mm. I'm not sure if the 7.2 FX can fit those though. Time to do some measuring.

That is a popular bike. Hopefully someone who has one will reply. Check in the Hybrid sub forum too.

Sounds like you need to go down 1-2 sizes. Other than that, it is difficult to recommend a specific brand or model of tire without knowing your riding style and what you are expecting to purchase. I ride Continenntal Top Contact in 700x28 with fenders, usually around 70-80psi, over varried road conditions and types, for somehwere around 5k miles. Just rode them home through slush/fresh snow/packed snow/ice during this last nasty winter storm and they help up admirably with only minimal loss of traction albeit at very slow speeds. You may also like the Vittoria Randonneur. Many choices out there!

Is the wheel true?

Yeah, 700x32 at the back should do it.
For Winter commuting, invest on studded tires (at least just the front tire).
