I just looked them up. You can get them for around $250. Hard to believe. That's an incredible value. And they come in Shimano or Campagnolo compatible!

Stiff rim with high spoke count and a good quality hub. Which rim, which spokes, pattern, and model of hub isn't set as each bike & rider are different. The stuff I listed would go on my uptown. May not be the best combo for original poster.

I'll say they are! They're 11-sp compatible also, and come with a thin spacer to use with 10-sp cassettes which is what I'm using. I love the look of the bladed aero spokes, too. The freehub is Vuelta branded, and it's rather loud. Almost makes it sound expensive like a CK hub. :D

List price is $250. Nashbar has fairly frequent 20% off / free shipping sales. In spite of free shipping, there's a $15 upcharge for oversize.

I took some photos of the Corsa HD wheels and will upload soon. They are massively stout. In spite of this, the front weighs about the same as my Mavic/Nuovo Record wheel which was handy for comparison. Fancy touring clincher from 1976 weighs about the same as overbuilt cheap fat-guy wheel from 2015, there's a data point. They are also very black, with a little bling from the decals, brake tracks, nipples, and cone nuts.

Darth Lefty, both words "massive" and "stout" mean heavy, so what do you mean the wheels are massively stout? Heavily heavy?

But seriously, did you mean wide or strong or something else?

Darth Lefty 02-27-15 12:41 PM

Standard road bike size, 2400+ grams including tape & skewers, about 2 lb more than the lites

Darth Lefty 02-27-15 12:44 PM

Incidentally, since I had the scale out, a SRAM PG-830 11-32 weighs 275g

Packed in a wheelset box. Greeted by enamel black rims and red tape, a nice effect. But it had me seeming to see red trim elsewhere which was an illusion, it's all black.

Looks a lot like my Lites but with more, non-aero spokes. I love the new versions of the Vuelta graphics. Mine are pretty loud, but luckily they work well with my bike's color scheme.

Are the hubs loud? Mine are way louder than my original Mavic CXP22's with Felt-logo hubs.

Are yours perfectly true out of the box like my Lites were?

Hub seems draggy, like heavy grease. Doesn't seem particularly loud. They seem as true as they can be to the naked eye, I don't have a stand or a dial indicator. I just tried a tire on it, and it turns out the Bell tubes from Wal-Mart have stems that are not long enough for the wheel. Oopie oopie, off to the bike store tomorrow!

I wasn't entirely right about the all-black, there is some red left in the decal. Between this and the red frame I intend these for, I'm now looking for red stripe tires too, or yellow to match the decals. The tires I had on hand are tan wall 32's and look silly between the frame and the wheels. But there's so much clearance on this bike, all the color-stripe tires are 23's and would look lost in the frame. Guess we are going for the tinted-windows look.

So I still haven't ridden these but I did have them installed on the frame I plan to use them with. However, I needed the cassette off the rear. I found the rear skewer bent at the threads. Not sure how it could have happened. Worrying, but also, I bent it back easily enough, which says the steel is some pretty buttery stuff.
