the fact that I have really old snow that is pretty much a sheet of ice in my yard is getting to be pretty old about now. Yesterday might be the coldest commute this year, we can only hope.

We're going to be having that kind of weather most of this week. The winter bike will be parked. I'm not sure I remember how to dress for this. ;)

The only problem is that it's definitely on the warm side for this time of year and it could be back to reality next week. Looks like we might be done with the really cold stuff though.

I suspect the same is true everywhere. It is the only thing that makes sense, but it's almost hard to believe, considering what so many of us have been through this year.

The snow is melting fast. We're due for rain tomorrow, which makes me happy, because the ground needs a good cleaning. It is so dirty around here!

I do wish Florida weather would stop with the yo-yo - 86 and breezy to 27 and rainy to 80 and partly cloudy. Seriously, makes a man sick (literally).

At this time of year, when we're still nearer to winter than spring, I think the correct term is Winting. Sprinter comes later.

Woo, 20*F and dry this morning, 47 this afternoon, I rode the road bike for the first time in months.

DAMN that thing is twitchy after months of riding the tank. Took a few hundred feet to get zeroed in on it again.

The snow and ice are melting here, and the salt is getting slowly washed off the road. Another day or two of this followed by a good rain and I should be back to bike commuting again. :)

I know exactly what you mean! I got away with my default short over long sleeve shirt combo, with the heavier of my two zip up hoodies, reversable insulated vest & thin gloves the other day. I was a bit cooler than I'd have preferred, but pretty much no sweat, which is a nice change. When it's 1 degrees you end up putting so much on that sweat is inevitable. Sadly my less than 50 miles rear tire is partially blown out (casing failure?) so I'll likely miss all the transition weather and the chance to fine tune my clothing setup.

How do you get around when your bike is unavailable?

Any bike shops nearby with a "salvage yard"? There are a couple near here. One has a basement full old parts. If you could locate a shop like that, you might be able to find a tire or two for a few bucks that would tide you over until you can get something better. Is the old tire completely shot? Seems I magically end up with a couple spares laying around. Maybe a contact at a shop could hook you up with an old tire some customer wanted to replace? Seems like a shame to be stranded when I'm sure there's a million used tires out there that would otherwise get tossed.

Your transition weather might not last as long as it does here so maybe it's not such a big deal. Missing the transition weather in Minneapolis would mean skipping March and April. Seems like we got an early start on Spring this year but one never knows.

Its been so long since we've had "normal" weather that follows the seasons that I can't predict what is going on or what will happen till the more certain brutal heat that has become the norm in July.

I have a nimbus and drifter that I can toss on the rear wheel, but the drifter is low psi and rather slippy slick inverted tread, and the nimbus has a more front wheel tread vs a traction oriented tread. Going to have shop send the kenda back to manufacturer see if they'll replace it or what. The other two also don't have reflective sidewall strip, which is vital for riding in dark.
