Nah... My friends are usually much more educated that that: can tell "bean" from "been". Your "spell and grammar check", unfortunately, couldn't... But nobody's perfect, I guess.

I am more worried about humanity’s rampant stupidity and sheepish behavior than I am about the coronavirus outbreak.

Probably best not to use British tabloids as your source. Panic buying is obviously stupid, but that article misses the point entirely. The most optimistic timetable for the development of a vaccine is one year, and that's very optimistic.
I don't understand the science behind this, but apparently it's harder to come up with a vaccine for coronaviruses that isn't harmful to humans than it is to come up with a flu vaccine.
Basically, the efforts right now are aimed at delaying the spread so that the medical infrastructure isn't overwhelmed by the number of people requiring intensive care, and hoping that vaccines and treatments are developed in the meantime.

Regardless of your opinion, one way or the other, about British tabloids, her point is spot on.
Panic buying toilet paper is simply stupid. Fighting with other customers for toilet paper is equally stupid.
Panic buying bottled water is another stupid, mass-panic behavior. Tap water is fine and, if you are worried about the quality of tap water just treat it, including boiling it. If you have ever camped or lived in a country where water quality is an issue, you would know that water can be made safe for drinking.
Hoarding, like a tiny brained hamster, is evidence that we are not as evolved as we would like to think.
Mass hysteria like the one described by the author are possibly far more dangerous than the virus itself.
But, you are entitled to your opinions, however wrongheaded they may be.
Peace out.

Not cycling related but:
NBA just suspended their season.
NCAA March Madness games will be played in empty arenas before no fans.
Tom Hanks & Wife have tested positive for COVID-19. Luckily, he is in Australia so had access to testing.

The Tour de Cure, Lake Nona (Orlando) has been postponed from March 29 to the end of May. The American Diabetes Association will decide exactly when in the next few days.

CDC is estimating 50-100 million infections in the US to occur. Panic buying is quite secondary to the threat of that. That article presents a rosy scenario that is no longer plausible.
