SOTR cancelled for 2020

I registered for SOTR as soon as it was available. Yesterday I got an email saying that the 2020 event has been cancelled.

Disappointing, to say the least.

It does seem like a lot of rides are being cancelled. I assume the rest are sitting on their hands and waiting to see how the virus crisis turns out before deciding.
Definitely unfortunate, but it is a minor issue in the big scheme of things.

Steve in Peoria, just happy to be able to get out on the bike at all.

Yep. That's about the 4th event I've had cancelled so far. The next wave of events were scheduled to come up at the end of May. Those will probably get the axe as well. My dentist appointment on Monday was cancelled. I didn't get a call until today. I had 2 spots for a possible reschedule. July 9th or August 24th. I took the 24th. It might not be over by July 9th.

I'm guessing they'll have some type of deferral till next year. That's what I have encountered so far.

Disappointing but I think the right call. This region is just starting to get the first trickle of Covid and will be peaking (hopefully not disastrously so) in probably about a month. Too many unknowns to press on with a large event like that just 6 weeks away.

I was planning on doing a solo Eroica-like gravel ride on 4 April, looks like I might have to plan a solo Thunder Ridge ride too.

My trip north north was planned for June this year. It has been cancelled as well. We are predicted to peak in August!!

On a positive note, the wife said my son said he wanted to ride a bike today. He said it was too boring to walk around the neighborhood with his mom and sister. That's my excuse for N+1, N+5, etc.

Since my wife got a new auto a year ago, I've been keeping all of the bikes at my place of business. The garage is taken up by her auto. I'll work on bikes this weekend and get one ready for everyone. Vintage mixtes for the ladies. Hopefully, we can get my daughter to ride.

This one is practically right in my backyard. Was giving it some thought, but I'd have had little hope to be in good enough shape to ride longer than the 45 mile route this year. Perhaps next year will be better all the way around, and I'll get to meet and ride with friends (virtual and otherwise).
