I beat the coronavirus through fasting

I know two people who've died of it, and the others I know who had it had very very unpleasant symptoms however after I got it from a family member I did a 72 hour fast and the fever and tiredness and high blood pressure and headaches went away very quickly and the cough lingered for only 5 days.

Some of the myriad benefits of fasting on the immune system and for anti-aging, all evidence based:

Blood sugar and insulin are lowered, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Ideal blood sugar is around 80. Some viruses activate glycolosis (the release of sugar in the body) and clinically it has been shown that decreasing glucose metabolism in the body weakens the influenza virus.

When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins. This means the mechanisms needed by viruses to replicate are by and large unavailable when you are in a deeply fasted state.

It stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses. AMPK does many helpful things in the body including activating the body's antioxidant defenses.

Deep ketosis virtually eliminates inflammation in the body. This can offset the life threatening symptoms of viral pneumonia which effectively kills you through inflammation. This also creates BHB ketones in your body, which also help your immune system and anti-oxidative system, especially in the brain. Ketones also provide an additional energy source during infection, which is critical when trying to fight off a bug. In fact you can have as much as three times the total energy available in your blood when you are in deep ketosis, or even more.

It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency and thereby making cells better able to fight off infection. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism and cancer prevention!

T and B immune cells retreat to the bone marrow and are renewed at a genetic level, each cell having all its DNA repaired. This supercharges your immune system and makes your cells young again. On top of all this, fasting encourages the direct apoptosis (death) of infected cells, shortcutting the typically length and messy process of killing them off through macrophages which can kill off bystander cells and is part of how cytokine storms cause issues..

Your body releases interferon which is also triggered by the body during viral attacks to shut down the replication ability of the surrounding cells and stop infections.

After 72 hours or more fasted, your body actually recycles large numbers of immune bodies and creates new ones, rejuvenating your entire system. In this process many white blood cells and mitochondria fuse together and the working parts of damaged cells are kept while the bad ones are recycled. Stem cells also release into the bloodstream at this point.

When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells. This kills these cells off completely. Senescent cells are responsible for the effects of aging and are the root cause of the development of cancer. If it were possible to destroy them all it would completely stop aging and cancer. That is not possible but fasting can help limit these effects by killing off many of the affected cells and limiting the future effects of aging.

Fasting also releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth, helping a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.

Eating one meal a day can bring most of these benefits to a lesser degree, and adding a few entire days off from eating per week will have even more effect especially when starting to feel poorly.

Pregnant or nursing women should not fast, nor should people with pancreatic tumors or hypoglycemia. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution. People with Addison's disease may also be unable to fast. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind simply break the fast and seek advice.

I avoided it entirely by purchasing a 12 year stockpile of two-ply lavoratory tissues.

I am a big fan of intermittent fasting. However, if you are experiencing adverse symptoms you should seek medical assistance.

I know some have managed to recover with limited symptoms simply by wearing red wool sweaters.

BS alert! BS alert! Whoot whoot!

Please inform Dr. Fauci of your incredible research on this subject.

Seriously, it's an over-reaction by the immune system that is killing a lot of people. You are so far off the beam here it's not funny.

Anyone fasting for the first time, could start by missing just one meal. After doing that a number of times, they could miss two meals. They could gradually build up to fasting for longer periods of time. That way it is not a shock to the body, and they learn what to expect.

How dare you offer anything original or positive around here! This is Bike Forums, after all. We don't light candles here, FWIW, we curse the darkness.

You need to adopt a more snarky, know-it-all attitude if you wanna fit in here. You need to wake up every morning, bring up the site, and find a mistake or inaccuracy in someone else's post, even if it takes hours. Then you can respond. "WRONG AGAIN LOOSER!" Them's the rules around here, I didn't make 'em. Just repeat what they said on cable news last night and you'll be fine.

I'm telling you this for your own good. Never offer anything original, positive, helpful or sincere here, unless you can do it in a snarky way, never! Nothing good will EVER come of it.

Intriguing, would be good to repeat this under controlled scientific methods by professionals in the field, then after confirmation have it published. Regardless, sounds better than the moronic suggestion to study injecting disinfectant

It is a cut and paste from an advertisement or evangelical social media posting. (Or maybe one of those emails we get from BikeForums.)

Why (for example) did they post a link to the wikipedia article on ribosomes, since ribosomes and protein synthesis aren't part of the advertisement, oh I mean original insightful commentary?

Lemond1985 HAHA so true. I knew I was in for it posting this but if even one person listens who is at risk it could save a life.

Please inform Dr. Fauci of your incredible research on this subject.

Seriously, it's an over-reaction by the immune system that is killing a lot of people. You are so far off the beam here it's not funny.
It's not really, it's acute inflammation because your immune system is confused. When you fast you go into deep ketosis which dramatically reduces inflammation down to near nothing. It's probably absolutely impossible to get ARDS while you are fasting, though to be sure you would have to do studies which costs millions of dollars and no one is interested in performing.

UV rays kill viruses, so why not just start putting all infected people on tanning beds ??.

It's not, I came up with it myself. I have extensive scientific education and IQ in the 150s and I have been fasting for several years on a regular basis and have had very dramatic health improvements. I have also noticed I am now pretty much bulletproof when it comes to catching bugs. Ribosomes are the factories inside the cell that viruses need in order to reproduce. In the original version I explicitly said fasting shuts down the ribosomes in the cell but some MORON who claimed to be a microbiologist said I was an idiot because covid-19 uses polymerase A in order to reproduce. Of course if this guy really went to school he must have missed out on the day they taught his classmates than polymerase A comes from the ribosome! However some of the studies DO talk about ribosomes so I left the definition in there because the average person has no idea what ketosis, ribosomes, lysosomes and so on are and the studies may be difficult to understand if they do try to read them. Everything I posted is supported by studies and the studies are provided so you don't have to rely on me for anything, you can go read the studies for yourself, though I find that like most things people don't believe until they start to experience it themselves.

Fasting cured my huge ganglionic cyst on my wrist, ate it right up, my benign hyperplasia of the prostate, my high blood pressure which I could not control with drugs, my peripheral neuropathy in my feet which was incredibly annoying, piriformis syndrome whenever I sat down and on and on and on a whole laundry list of problems. So I know personally it's the body's key to healing and considering the times I think it's important to get that out there. I am not affiliated with any cult or sales team and don't get any money or brownie points for sharing this info. I know most here will cynically scoff but maybe one or two people with health issues would like to live, or would like their parents with health issues to live. And this is a tool that can help out with that if you take the time to explore it.

In 1918 they wheeled patients out into the sun in many areas and it worked very well. It also stimulates vitamin D production which is crucial to the immune system.

Really promising field of research in an area in which we are quite desperate to find effective treatments ASAP, and no one wants to fund it. Yeah, that checks out.

You have no idea whether or not someone can go into ARDS while fasting, you're just making crap up.
