I would not recommend to anyone that they contract this virus, even if young and healthy.
I read an idea, on an Australian site, to deliberately infect all young and healthy people with the virus , in order to promote herd immunity.
Bad idea.

The young and healthy have less reason to worry. Not no reason. It is a risk management problem.

It appears the world's governments have decided to let this happen now. I have a bad feeling we have only seen the beginnings of this pandemic.

Much of Asia & Europe is getting the virus spread under control, and we should see zones reopen while other zones remain closed.
The Americas (North and South) are a mess!!!

Covid is on the rise in Texas. I see too many people not taking any precautions. I believe this Fall it is going to get bad here. Will the kids go back to school? At first people were doing the right things but now it’s like it doesn’t exist anymore and it was a joke that Oklahoma was playing on us. I wear my mask at the grocery store to be safe. I know it’s not 100% but better than nothing.

If everyone (80%) wear masks we won't get a second wave and won't need to shut down the economy.... it's just that 80% of Americans won't wear a mask. It reduced COVID 19 cases in Austria by 90% two weeks after implementation of mandatory masks. I am no longer redeployed to the COVID 19 ICU and am back doing my outpatient only medicine but I have a funny feeling I will have to go back later this year.... it was damn exhausting.....With that said, I had a healthy 21 yr old die of influenza a month before COVID 19 hit... so yeah, these viruses are less likely to kill the young but when it happens to you or someone you know...it's a damn shame.

Yeah the mask part is pretty stupid.
I looked at our census a few weeks ago when we were in the thick of things. I think like 30-40% of people sick enough to be inpatients were under the age of 50.
We still don't know what the long term outcomes of lung insult from this is going to be. Are people going to recover fully? Are asymptomatic patients potentially going to have low grade inflammatory reactions that can cause lung scarring/fibrosis? No idea till we're a few years down the line.
This entire 'mask wearing is oppressive' is the ******** highlight of american exceptionalism/individualism. I'm so over it. There's such a disconnect between what all we've seen and what the general public thinks they know.
It's like Dr. Google on steroids.

Coronavirus Damages Lungs of Asymptomatic Patients Too, Medical Examiner Says
"Interestingly, all the [asymptomatic] people look and feel fine, but when researchers did a CT scan doing an image of their lungs, in 50 to 100 percent of the cases, they actually found abnormalities," Oran explained. "When they look at these CT scans, it's hazy — looks like you're looking through a dirty piece of glass. What that means is there's something abnormal about the lungs," he said.

The young and healthy have no need to worry--WHAT!! Should they not worry about spreading the virus?! EVERYONE needs to worry about this pandemic. If EVERYONE doesn't take measures to stop the spread, the spread won't stop. How do you think a young person, perhaps engaged, would feel if they infected a loved one, or best friend, who might not have an immune system as strong as theirs. This is not just an "old persons" virus--let's not treat it like one. I'd like to get back to some resemblance of "normal" as much as anyone. But I also want to live long enough to see "normal" return.

As cyclists, we value our lung capacity extra. A mild case that permanently harms my lung capacity would be a catastrophe for me.
