Well, I don't live in Tulsa, in New York it's required to enter a store.
And if you don't believe me, maybe you'll trust Fox News. After all they are "fair and Balanced".

No shoes, no shirt, no mask... no service.
Weren't we told that come summer time and high temps the virus will magically disappear?

I feel that it is safe to not wear a mask. Don't twist my words.
My comment was toward those demanding people wear a mask into a store. Look if people have water at home, and you claim people need to wear mask for RESPECT, and then ride so far that they need a store for water, It is hypocrisy on your part. BECAUSE the store wasn't necessary at all.
And we all know staying at home is more safe than a mask. If a person is commuting to work fine, but who needs More than two 24ouz bottles to commute? like .00000000001 % of the people on this forum?
Point is come winter time and sub freezing temps we will see (visually) just how defective mask are.

Data from the US supports this as well.

Japan is a prime example of how mask-wearing can greatly reduce loss-of-life in regard to covid.

Some claim to be Patriots and would hail their soldiers for being heroes in times of war for protecting them but it's mighty strange that when the battle is against a virus at home and involves a small sacrifice such as wearing a mask to reduce risk* then they care nothing for their fellow countrymen/women and go into extreme selfish mode, seemingly happy to see their society burn.
*note reduce risk via reduced spread not personal elimination or total protection. It works when we all do it. We protect each other this way.

Going for a long ride is technically unnecessary, yes.
It happens however that wearing a mask is a requirement simply to return to my home, no matter if I've gone a few yards or ridden a Century.
Granted, I violated that twice, once when I accidentally set out without and returned to get it, another time when I forgot it away from home and rode home without.
But I try to comply, because really it is a sound policy for shared hallways.
And yes, that has meant a few late-night incidents of "ugh, I still have to wash some of these and hang them to dry, or I'll be stuck inside tomorrow"

There will still be sheep living in fear, and wearing mask come winter regardless of if covid is here or if it isn't here.

And more to the point: How am I "living in fear" when I am consciously trying to help protect my friends, co-workers, and neighbors?

So, am I "living in fear" when I buckle my safety belt while driving my car, wear a helmet while riding my bike, lock my door when leaving my home?

Does wearing a mask make you wash your hands? NOPE
Does wearing a helmet protect others, or make you a better rider? nope!
Can't gather more than 10 people unless it's a protest then you are allowed 100. What a JOKE!
virtue signalling via mask or Social media is a joke!

This mask nonsense needs to go away. People need to stop forcing their irrational phobias onto others and stop trying to rationalize their fears by attempting to shame people who think differently into compliance.
Yeah, masks may have some unquantifiable benefit in preventing someone from infecting others. But the trouble is covid isn't going away anytime soon. Mask may slow the rate of the spread, but it is still going to spread so what are you accomplishing? Hospitals are no longer in danger of being overwhelmed, in fact they are in danger of going bankrupt and closing their doors.
Masks simply aren't needed, it is almost juvenile.
We are going to lose more lives as a result of this overreaction. Poverty kills more people on a regular basis than pandemics every could. Poverty and ignorance. Watch what happens in Africa this year with starvation. Crops are being plowed into the fields, third world farmer can't get fuel for their tractors and wouldn't have a market to distribute their crops if they did. People need to stop being so selfish and short sighted about their imagined safety and start seeing the big picture.

If people are concerned then they can stay 6' or more away from me. That's on them, not me.

A mask is not made to protect your hands. It has also been shown that covid is mainly spread via droplets, not contaminated surfaces.
And it's funny that you have folks whining about protestors when Trump is having RALLYS and bragging about how many thousands of people will be in attendance.
Why only mention the protestors and not that?...
How convenient.
And to address another bonehead assertion you made in an previous post, the death rate in my state is currently 2.5 percent, far higher than the flu.
And before you start with that "it's only because they're not reporting flu deaths anymore!" line of garbage I'd suggest you read the actual data...

Thanks...
Back to the topic...
In the past 2 weeks, I was offered a cold water bottle by a homeowner and a baseball coach and promised to pass it on. So today, after my morning ride I took a case of cold 0.5l water bottle to an intersection on the MUP and offered them for free to passers by. Some offered my money and were surprised when I said they were free.I explained that I was passing the favor on and asked them to do the same.

The pandemic hasn't changed anything for me, other than always tucking a mask and latex gloves in a ziplock baggie in my middle jersey pocket. Same with shopping in general. I've always preferred to shop late at night, when there are few customers.
Only difference now is I wear a mask inside public spaces. No biggie. I was in health care for years, including operating room and other procedures where we had to wearing PPE for hours every shirt. And full face respirators on the job later as a safety and health inspector. Biggest challenge is heat -- which is why ORs are kept cold -- and feeling stuffy. I use Breathe Right or similar adhesive nasal strips to keep the nose open. Helps a lot.
I always carry at least two 24 oz water bottles for rides longer than an hour when the temperature gets above 80F. When it threatens to get closer to 100F I'll stuff a frozen collapsible Mylar water pouch in a jersey pocket for emergencies. Usually I'm within 10-12 oz of the next convenience store, but on one solo century and a group ride on an unfamiliar route I've run short.
My heat adaptation seems to get worse every year so I'll probably mount another water bottle cage on the main road bike. Or switch to larger bottles, if I can find some that won't bang against the frame trying to use 'em.
Or maybe I'll try a Camelbak. Several friends prefer 'em, although roadies tend to eschew backpacks. But on a long hot summer day ride I'd rather be comfy than stylish. If I'm aiming for PRs I'll switch to the carbon bike, minimalist kit, and ride early or late when it's cooler, and closer to home so I don't need to worry about water.
