The number of deaths yesterday was about three times the daily average a month ago. We're going into the exponential growth and this is before we can expect the bump from Thanksgiving travel and gatherings.

Watch it there with that stuff buster! I was taken out in the cold on Christmas morning as a young preschooler and shown two lines in the snow on the roof leading to the furnace vent stack (no fireplace) representing sleigh tracks. Proof positive he's real!

We still have a few Bubbas and Bubbettes trying to make a scene at convenience stores. Our local HEB grocery store will throw your azz out without a mask. They have masks for you if you don’t have one. One lady went in without a mask but she legitimately just forgot and politely put her mask on but then you have Bubba trying to start a fight. It is not about you Bubba and Bubbette but they will never understand consequences of being an idiot.

" 'The assumption we will always have a hospital bed for [you] is a false one.' Dan Johnson, a critical-care doctor, told the Atlantic in November. "
Hospitals have reached breaking point: Rate of COVID patients being admitted is dropping because beds are full and mild cases are being turned away as US reports a third of the world's new infections and families beg for ICU space on social media

I'm a vegetarian. No turkey for me. I'm going to do a series of Trail Christmases, instead of everybody together; one for each household: friend or couple. I'm still working some of the logistics out, but the idea is to see each other and exchange gifts. Maybe some trail mix or protein bars, but I think the cold wind is going to discourage that.
I'm lucky my mom's still here, she's 70. She's the only person it's important to have a meal with. On Thanksgiving I called her, we put each other on speaker, and ate dinner and talked, we'll do that again for xmas. Everybody else gets curated trinkets, and some exercise to earn them.

Good idea, sounds like you're working out a safe scheme. Hope the weather cooperates.

I guess I’m won’t send Seattle that Xmas ham after all. if I get another ham as a gift I don’t know. Only so much ham at one time.
Last edited by Hondo Gravel; 12-06-20 at 12:44 PM. Reason: too much ham and eggs

Which is why when I am out riding I wear a mask AND I find streets where I don't have to follow other people on bikes. It really isn't any more of an infringement on my freedom than washing my hands after leaving the bathroom is.

Yup Bubba was at the grocery store getting some beer with his basketball gut hanging out not wearing a mask trying to make a scene. I had on my Tool shirt and AC/DC mask that apparently caused his face to contort which made me laugh. Bubba drank the Koolaid
He appeared such a pathetic soul I kept my distance and got my groceries I cruised on.

FDA advisory panel recommends Emergency Use Authorization for Pfizer vax.
Stat news
A panel of outside experts on Thursday recommended the Food and Drug Administration issue an emergency use authorization to the Covid-19 vaccine being developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, a vaccine that appeared to be highly efficacious in a Phase 3 clinical trial.
The 17-4 vote came after a long day in which members of the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee, or VRBPAC, discussed a wide range of issues related to the vaccine, including concerns about vaccinating people with severe allergies and 16- and 17-year-olds, as well as issues regarding vaccination during pregnancy or lactation.
Although the FDA does not have to follow the panel’s recommendation, it is widely expected to do so.
