Belt Drive Experiences
I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with the new belt instead of chain bikes? I ask here because it seems the ideal place to use such. Dealing with grit & grime, but you don't need the gear range as much as most mountain biking.

I have no personal experience. I have a friend who ran singlespeed Gates drive CX for a year, he liked it a lot. And I ran across this article by Zinn, whose opinion I rate highly:

TiCycles in the other Portland has done a bunch of belted bikes. You may want to check out their website. ticycles.com/ It's a brand new website and I couldn't find everything he does with belts, but that doesn't mean he cannot.

I have an experience with belt drive now, and WOW! Smooooooooth, and perfect for mud and high grass. You can't tell when it's getting any of nature or the elements in it, because it doesn't affect it unless it's hard like a twig. (Doesn't damage it despite the tension on the belt).
Two downfalls are obviously no shifting, but also difficult to remove and install the rear wheel. Not that you need special tools.

Genetics have failed me
So far i've ridden roughly 250km with my new belt driven/Rohloff bike and I have nothing negative to say about it for now. It's a quiet, smooth operation. Yes, removing the rear wheel is a bit more of a pain, since i need to remove the snubber first, but nothing else different. Only that I have clean hands afterwards, since I don't need to lift an oily chain with my fingers.
Also, it looks cool
