Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Pulled the trigger on an Anyroad 1 today

Last years model caught my eye, but it wasn't in the cards for me. This year things have worked out much better and my new Anyroad 1 is on it's way! The paint scheme is really nice on this years model and the updated Tiagra 4700 looks to be a nice addition. I am a bit concerned about not having a granny ring but I suppose I'll manage. We have a fair amount of hilly roads around here so I'm used to having that third ring available if needed. Now the wait for it to arrive.

Congratulations. It is a great looking bike.

When shopping for my new bike, while I was pretty much set on steel, this is one of the non-steel bikes that I was very interested in. I wasn't able to locate one to test and wound up with the Jamis Renegade instead.

Hopefully your bike arrives in short order and you are on the road soon.

They had a Med in stock so I was able to ride it and while it is a little to big for me it road wonderfully. Now I have to decide which pedals to put on it. I have Shimano 324's on my mountain bike and 520's on my road bike. What do you guys run?

Congrats.

I will soon be getting that bike's Dark Blue & Yellow flat bar cousin, the Toughroad SLR 2, but I probably won't be doing much gravel riding, as I tend to be very much just an urban rider.

I'm sure you will enjoy it, looks like a sweet ride. I'm out in the country so we have lots of dirt to explore as well as some long paved country roads. I mostly ride for my health and try to get in 11 miles in the early mornings before heading off to work. On the weekends I like taking longer rides so this bike should open up a whole new set of roads to explore.

I have had my Anyroad 1 for a year now and can't say enough good things about this bike. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. The only upgrade I have done is the replace the tires. This year I went to something more grippy and smooth, Schwalbe Marathon Mondial's, 700X35. Better tire for gravel and bumpy roads.

Congrats, i was looking at this bike pretty hard, but there is not a giant dealer around here that i care for. I settled yesterday on a marked down 2015 trek boone. I am very happy with the deal i got. The giant is nice though, congrats, you will love it.

I just got the comax version and LOVE it! I started with the anyroad 2, realized after a week how much I loved the geometry of the bike. I went back to the bike store and was able to trade it back in for the comax version! I too want the granny gear so I ordered a wolftooth roadlink and an 11-36 cassette. The roadlink allows you to put a larger cassette on than normal. I should have it in and installed by the end of the week. Looking forward to having my granny gear back!
I also put Maxis Refuse 700x40c tires on mine. Love the wider tires. Better cushiness and honestly dont notice any loss of speed.
Good luck with yours. You will love it!

Can't wait for it to come in, I'm already having to resist calling and bugging the LBS. I may have to look into better tires for it soon. That seems to be the upgrade everyone has made to it.

Congats on yours! What triple are you putting up front? I may have to look into this. I've been shifting further on my second ring on my steeper hills since I ordered the Anyroad and have been able to manage but your solution is an option worth looking into. How much space do you have left with those 40c tires? I never have figured out how big of a tire these bikes will take. I'm sure I am going to love it when it gets here!

No triple up front. Staying with the double up front. This will chang my low gear from 34/30 to 34/36. Nice!
As far as the tires go, still have plenty of room left to go even bigger I would guess bit the 40's are plenty big enough for me.

MHO the 324s are more practical, and just seem to work better under all circumstances. I have both.

Wide tires are better. The only thing the classic road bike with its skinny tires has going for it is tradition. On my 700 X 42 tires on my gravel road/adventure bike, I'm still fast and I get there nearly as fast as I would riding a road bike.

That's my thinking as well. I've got the 520's off my road bike on it now but I'm thinking 324's will be my final choice of pedals.

I can already tell this bike is pretty quick!
