Just picked up my first gravel bike last week (first time doing anything offroad), Giant Revolt Advanced 2, went for my first gravel ride on Saturday and had an absolute blast!!

Only took one photo that involved a road, but here's one shot from the ride-event I did yesterday. Rode with a friend who was a bit slower on the hills, so I got to sit up and enjoy the scenery. 30 miles, 3200 feet of climbing, I'd guess 70% or so gravel?

Not much gravel on this ride, but portions of the road may as well have been gravel.

A bit of everything on this ride. I suck at taking pictures though!

Tour de Heifers? I was there doing the 60mi. 7700' (actually coasted 1mi down and road 1mi back to get metric at the end)

A'yup. Tour de Heifer.

I kinda wish I'd done the 60, but it was fun all the same. Nice, low-key event.

Hope you got something to eat at the end! Sounds like that part did not go according to plan.

Nope, was probably in the top few people getting back from the 60 (4.5hr) and there wasn't anything. apparently we'll get a discount on next year. i've done the last 3 years now and this was the first issue.. usually they are great.

This is from tonight's ride. I had to forgo the gravel bike and use the mountain bike for this ride. There are sections that are a little too rough for the 700x40 tires on my gravel bike.

D'oh. That sucks. They must've run out pretty fast, because there was plenty of food when I got there, probably around 11:30-11:45 or so.

I like starting in Cumberland. Gives you something more to shoot for at the end, riding by Great Falls (pictured) and rolling into Georgetown. Also (very) marginally more downhill.

That's a big'un.

Y'all got some chunky gravel up in them parts. Gonna need wider tires.

I did some exploration in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia today.

Online maps are not always correct, that's for sure, but I had fun and was in some very beautiful places.

I heard a loud clink sound and the rear wheel skidded. My heart sank as I came to stop but no damage.

Maiden voyage. I thought gravel biking was a fad just a year ago but after getting burned out of constantly trying to beat PR’s, KOM’s, FTP’s etc, I discovered this sub-genre of cycling and I am learning to love to ride again.
