I just ordered a set of Boyd Altamonts for a new build. My rationale if that in the long term I'll have two sets, the second probably being a wide 650b (probably CCC!) with as large a tire as possible. In the mean time the Altamonts can take up to a 44 which I think will be the max 700c for this frame but will also take a 28 or 30 for pavement. I'm going to start with some 37s I already own and see how it goes. When I get second, wider wheels, the Altamonts will be the pavement wheels. That's the plan anyway.

I didn't just buy it....it was a few days ago, but swapped out the Shimano XT 11-42 cassette for a SRAM XG-1175 10-42 (and, of course the free hub). Now to find 30 minutes to pull the crank and swap the chainring down 2 teeth...pardon the dirty bike, I ride it in dirt.

Hi, it’s me again. Have a B17 imperial in the way. I miss the leather Brooks saddles. Now I have a C17 carved that’ll be available for a great price, only 3 months old, around 200 miles of use

Finally caved in and added Honjo fenders to my Checkpoint. I'm not entirely sold on the look, but there's no arguing with their amazing quality. Also pictured: Garmin 830, to replace my old Garmin 500 which has served me well.

I just purchased 2 Conti 25mm gatorskins for the second wheelset on my Domane. Now I have a set with 38's for gravel and a set with 25's for road. I did some hill repeats with the new 25's yesterday and I must say, I now have a road bike AND a gravel bike all in one. I was wanting 28's but all I could find were 25's, so I bought them.

I just mounted an SQ-Lab 611 Active S-Tube saddle, and ithas felt great right away. These have flex designed into the rail mounts, adjustable via elastomers. I’ve got the soft ones in now, and the difference compared to any conventional saddle I’ve had is easily discerned. I’m looking forward to a proper dirt road trial tomorrow.

I can say that, so far, being accustomed to riding race saddles with either narrow noses or snub noses, the wide, flat nose on the 611 is noticeable. It’s not uncomfortable, just noticeable. I’ve not accumulated even 10 miles on it yet though, so much remains to be seen, and yes, I’ll report back with impressions…not of my underside— don’t worry!— but riding impressions.

Some of the last bits to make this bike rideable. The inner 28T chainring should be on its way as well as the chaincatcher to make it fly off the 48T big ring safely.
Biggest bummer is the lack of availability of the Microshift bar-ends in Europe. I guess I will just use downtube friction shifters in the meantime.

Did you have trouble with the crank? I have been riding the SL-K in 30-48 for almost 4 years and going strong. I am not a high-watt output rider however. I find it perfect for my riding.

After moving to a less small apartment I need to find a ways to stash as many bikes as possible without annoying the wife too much. I ordered these post mounts and so far so good. Between the saddle and the top tube there are two mounting heights, I guess the front wheel could be used also. They're not beautiful but they work and were easy to mount.

Nope. That's why I have 2 wheel sets. This is the first time in over 25 years I haven't had a dedicated road bike. I like to go on group rides and my favorite Tuesday night hammerfest ride. I've been using my Bontrager 32's that came with the Domane and they are ok on the road and ok on the gravel. My 38 Maxis Recons are awesome on the gravel, but not good on pavement. The Conti Gatorskins are great on the road but I haven't had them on gravel, and probably won't.
It only takes a couple minutes to swap out wheels so It's not that big of a deal to do so. It takes me longer to get dressed for a ride. I will use this system until I get a dedicated road bike again, then I'll set up the Domane as a gravel bike with 38's.
